Secret Busting!
Mage, Hunter & Paladin are the classes with secrets. Know the common ones that are played and take steps to trigger them.
Mage - you’ll see mostly vaporize, mirror entity and ice barrier in arena. Play weaker minions and attack the hero with weaker minions so you don’t lose your big cards. Sometimes it’s better to not attack if you have checked everything else off the list.
Constructed will see some burn/control decks that use ice block and ice barrier to stay alive long enough to kill you first. If the deck has played tons of freezing spells or gone straight for your face, it’s most likely this. This means you will have to kill the guy twice or maybe even 3 times. It’s tough. Try to bring the mage to 1 before applying the killing blow.
Paladin - mostly you’ll see Noble Sacrifice. This means when you attack with a minion or hero a 2/1 will be summoned and take the blow. Attack with things that will not die or if you need a bigger minion to trade with something, attack with the smaller guy first so your big attack is not blocked.
Redemption is very effective with divine shield or deathrattle minions so if you see one of them come out followed by a secret that likley.
Lastly you will see the repentance spell periodically which will reduce a minions health to 1 when played. Play minions that already have 1 health if possible.
Hunter - Explosive trap is king which does 2 damage to everything on your side when the hero is attacked. Attack before playing things. You can also sometimes take advantage of this to trigger enrages.
Snipe is the second most common. Does 4 damage to a creature when played. Play things you don’t mind losing or creatures with more than 4 health or divine shield.
Freezing trap is sometimes played but is rare. It is a good trap returning a card to your hand upon any attack and then making it cost 2 more mana. Attack with cards that cost less or have beneficial battlecries to use them again. Watch out for attacking with anything that costs 9 or more as it becomes unplayable.
Snake trap summons 3 1/1 snakes when a minion is attacked. Watch out for the buzzard/snake trap combo as it will draw 3 cards. Kill the buzzard with a spell or avoid attacking it until you can deal with it.
Misdirect is rare and triggered by attacking the hero. Attack with a low attack minion to try and minimize this.
Cool plays with secrets.
Play spell bender or counter spell with archmage antonidas and keep him alive

Crazy Game Stories
Owned by Dills at BlizzCon!
But then I ripped off Artosis’ Priest deck and won.

Playing Dills for Extra Life was SO much fun. Started off pretty troll-y though, proving I can’t build decks to save my life… But then Ysera, Ysera, Ysera! Video is on Twitch, whole thing will be on YouTube tomorrow. Side note, was the first time I played against someone with them on the line. Interesting experience! Plus Dills was very helpful.
Dills
Stayed up til 3:30am playing a LAN party style with David and Josh after Blizzcon. It was epic, 3 strike round robin and worked really well actually. We each had 2 strikes then I won with my mage deck in the last match of the night while the security was kicking us out of the lobby. Luckily the drunk guy on the couch tanked her for us so we got to finish.

Ricardo
Dills, Garrett, and Jocelyn,
I had a quick question regarding the quarter finals that happened at Blizzcon. I wasn't able to attend Blizzcon, but I did purchase the Virtual Ticket and was able to watch the semi finals and the finals and I have to say it was very exciting...in fact when Reckless (Reckful I think he meant) top decked Frostbolt versus Kripp I jumped off of my seat, I couldn't believe his deck was working. And then he didn't play it and lost...but that I digress. To go back to the point of this email, I noticed that the Virtual Ticket did not include the quarter finals at all, so I was wondering if the these were actually recorded, and if so, is it possible to watch them?
I've been listening since you guys started and I learn a lot everytime I listen. Your podcast is by far my favorite (Dills don't tell Scott that The Angry Chicken has beaten The Instance for me). Thanks for such an amazing show.

Hey guys,
I would love to hear you break down some or all of the decks from the pros at the Inn-vitational.
I know you partially covered Reckful's mage deck that was built for control and to-the-face, but I'd love to hear more insight on the other decks.
Also is there a deck from the tournament that is attainable by a normal player? I.e. doesn't require 6 purples and 5 oranges?
Garrett: Krip’s Turn 8 Mage Deck is pretty accessible. 3 rares, 1 epic. Everything else is basic or common.

On the Owner/Controller discussion - there's a catch - "Friendly"
I played a Savannah Highmane, and the Mage across from me used Mirror Entity to copy it, killed mine with a different spell. On the next turn , I then played a second Savannah Highmane, and the Mage across from me used a second Mirror Entity. I had a Scavenging Hyena -- and when I killed one of the Mage's copied (summoned) Highmane, my Hyena got the buff from a friendly death!!
Will try to verify. It was geeky to see three Highmane's and two Hyena's on the board together!!
It'd be great if Blizzard could include a copy player stats button so we could paste into a tweet.
Thanks,
LoticBeing
