Library Hall Event Checklist
Please read this list and apply it to your use and cleaning of Library Hall:
- The User is responsible for securing the library after the event. When leaving, the exterior and interior doors must be locked. The User has a key fob for locking doors for after-hours events.
- The Meeting Room User Agreement, including the Release of Liability, has been signed. The library has received the deposit and any required payments for use.
- If alcohol is served at the event, the User must obtain a Certificate of Liability. If alcohol is served at an event open to the public, the User must also obtain a permit from the City of Steamboat Springs. Required Certificates or permits must be provided to the Library before the User’s event.
- If audio-visual equipment or the piano will be used, the User has been instructed and is comfortable with use.
- For catered events or rented furniture, the User must make a reservation and pay User fees until all equipment is removed from the Library.
- The deposit may be forfeited, and the User may pay additional fees if cleaning is insufficient or damage is incurred.
- No tape may be used on painted surfaces, fabric panels, or floors. Removable Command Strips may be used. No other adhesive is allowed. All tape or strips must be removed when the event concludes.
- Events may not utilize helium balloons, candles, fog machines, smoke machines, or decorations hung over wooden beams or light fixtures as they will trigger the smoke detectors.
- Be respectful of the 125-person capacity.
- Only service animals are permitted.
- The City of Steamboat enforces parking around the library. Almost all the parking around the library is two-hour parking. Longer-term parking may be found at the Art Depot or the lot on 10th and Lincoln.
- Users and guests agree to follow all federal, state, and local laws on library property.
CLEANING AFTER YOUR EVENT
- Cleaning supplies are provided in the kitchen.
- Contents of recycling bags will be emptied into the recycling dumpster, and waste bags will be deposited into the waste dumpster (at the southeast end of the parking lot). There are replacement bags under the kitchen sink.
- Sweep all floors, including Library Hall, the kitchen, the bathrooms, Buddy Hall, the stairway, the entryway, and outside sidewalks as needed due to the event activity.
- Clean floor spills with microfiber cloths and water immediately. Cleaning cloths are under the sink in the kitchen.
- The tables and chairs will be cleaned and returned to the storage room. Twenty-five chairs per stack, ten tables per cart; otherwise, the carts become too heavy to move.
- When storing the chairs and tables, ensure the emergency elevator control room remains accessible.
