Disney Camp

Magic mirror on the wall, which summer camp is best of all? Let's take off to infinity and beyond and dive deep under the sea as we explore the colors of the wind and all things Disney! You'll be able to whistle while you work and reach for the sky during this exciting week of camp. All of you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust. Hakuna Matata!

Doll Making Camp                         

In this camp, the campers will combine Social Studies with creativity. They will learn the crafting and story behind various dolls. Students will also have a blast using a variety of materials to create 4 to 5 diverse dolls from different cultures and time periods.

Beginning/1st Year Strings Camp

If you have ever been interested in learning how to play violin, viola, or cello, this camp is the place for you! Beginning campers will be introduced to the instruments in the string family & learn how to play a song by the end of the camp. 1st year strings students with prior experience are invited to review the basics & learn new music in time for an end of camp "concert". This is a great opportunity for anyone who may be interested in joining the SRCS Strings class in the future. *Students must bring their own instruments; instrument rental options are available for new beginners!

Band Camp

Would you like to play flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone or drums?  Do you already play in band?  Come join us for Band Camp at SRCS!  Geared for beginners or those who already play, this camp is open to students in rising 1-8th grade. Campers will play in an ensemble setting and learn skills such as rhythm, posture and reading music.  There will be a performance on the last day. This is a fun introduction to the SRCS band program.  Come and make music with us this summer!

 *Students must supply their own instruments; however, there is a limited number available to borrow. Please contact Andrew Hawks at ahawks@cghsnc.orgto see if an instrument is available for your camper. Other local instrument rental options are available at Music & Arts.

Running Camp

Campers will have fun while improving their fitness.  Join the running camp and learn static and dynamic stretching, play running games, participate in group runs, and try some yoga moves.

Volleyball Camp

This camp is open to campers in the rising 4th - 8th grades.  We will focus on volleyball fundamentals, conditioning and play.  Come on out and have some fun! 

*Campers will need to bring kneepads, sneakers, a water bottle and snack.

Hawaiian Hullabaloo Camp

Come and learn about the Hawaiian culture thru storytelling, crafts, music, and fun. Each day we will discover something new and we will end the week with a Luau! What a great way to start the summer.

DIY American Girl Doll Accessories Camp

In this session, campers will exercise their DIY skills while making American Girl doll accessories that will not break the bank! Each day will follow a new theme. The themes include school, outdoors, fashion, sleepover/camping, arts & crafts.

Strings Camp

Pre-requisit: Prior experience on instrument

Bringing summer fun and strings together! Open to strings (violin, viola & cello) players with prior experience both in SRCS Strings and elsewhere.  We hope to have enough students to have 2 groups, and will prepare new music for a special concert at the end of camp.

Young Author’s Camp

Do you love to read?  Do you love to write?  Come to Young Author’s camp and let your creativity flow! In this camp, students will be introduced to a variety of writing genres.  Campers will be guided through each stage of the writing process beginning with brainstorming and ending with an illustrated story of their own.

Summer Reading Camp

Do you always wait until the last minute to finish your summer reading? This is the time to pounce! Mrs. Adkins will read your assigned summer reading or any other summer book you have with you and teach active reading skills, note taking, and organization skills. This will ensure success at the beginning of the new school year!

Hair Styling Camp

Have fun learning how to style your own hair!  Learn how to braid, blow-dry, curl and style your hair.

Baseball Camp

Baseball Camp will be focused the foundation of a pitcher's delivery, along with proper technique including footwork and grip.  Exercises will be taught to help improve velocity.  Campers will also work on hitting, bunting, fielding, throwing, base running and positional play.  Exercises will be taught to help improve speed and accuracy.

Irish Dance Camp

Campers will learn the art of Irish dance! They will hear the lingo and try the steps of this traditional form of dance. By the end of the week, campers will know both solo and “ceili” or group Irish dances. Parents are invited to join our final performance at the end of camp.

Arts and Crafts Camp

Campers will use their creativity in a variety of hands on projects.

Tye- dye shirts made in the beginning of the week will be worn by the group on the last day!

Basketball Camp

Campers at SRCS Mini-Day Basketball Camp will develop all of their basketball skills: shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense. A SRCS Mini-Day Basketball Camp will expose your child to the game of basketball with a focused approach on detail-oriented training that is essential to growth both on and off the court. Over the course of the camp, your child’s self-confidence will grow, along with their skills and overall appreciation of the game.  This camp is open to both boys and girls.

Raleigh Adventure Camp  ***ALL DAY CAMP***

Each day will be a new adventure into Raleigh, as we visit and explore popular attractions.  Several available options are the Natural Science Museum, Pullen Park, Marbles Museum, Museum of Art, and the Museum of History.  A more formal agenda will be available prior the start of the camp.  We will take public buses for transportation both to and from each attraction.  This is an exciting opportunity, since Raleigh has so many wonderful and inexpensive sights to see.

Campers will have fun as they create unique works of 2D and 3D mixed media art masterpieces. Each day the young artists will work on different projects and explore a variety of materials and art techniques.

*Shelby graduated from Elon University in 2018 and will be attending NC State Vet School in the fall.  While at Cardinal Gibbons High School, Shelby participated in the advanced fine arts program and she had the opportunity to take several AP art courses.

Outdoor Adventures Camp

In this course, campers will explore basic/intermediate skills for backpacking in the outdoors safely. Topics covered will include knots; tents and alternative shelters; purifying and obtaining water; food and nutrition; camp cooking and fire skills (demo); map reading and compass skills; packing a backpack; basic first aid skills (time permitting). No equipment or previous experience necessary.

Magic Tree House STEM Adventures Camp

Rising 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade Guardians are invited to join Jack and Annie on marvelous STEM adventures. We will use the themes and settings of the Magic Tree House series to help us explore many aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We will become Engineers, Mathematicians, and Scientists through our hands on learning!
