Fry’s Spring Beach Club Inclement Weather Policy

If thunder is observed by FSBC employees (lifeguards, coaches, swim instructors, managers) it is to be reported to the Head Lifeguard on duty.   The Head Lifeguard will notify the guard staff to clear all pools.  The pools will remain closed until 20 minutes after the last thunder is observed.  The Head Lifeguard on duty is responsible for maintaining elapsed time after thunder.

 

If lightning is observed by FSBC employees, the Head Lifeguard on duty will notify the staff to clear all pools as well as the pool deck.   The pools will remain closed until 30 minutes after the last lightning is observed.  Members and guests may wait indoors in the Café or in their cars.   FSBC staff will move indoors and will monitor the grounds and deck from inside.   One staff member must be in the Café at all times.  The Head Lifeguard on duty is responsible for notifying the gate attendant of the situation, and ensuring that members and guests are informed as they enter the pool grounds.  The Head Lifeguard on duty is responsible for maintaining elapsed time after lightning.

 

The lifeguards must be able to distinguish the shape and location of the main drains in the lap pool.  Should water turbulance due to rain obscure the bottom of any of the pools, the pools must be cleared until visibility improves.

 

JSL Meet Inclement Weather Policy

 

Any FSBC employee, Home or visiting Meet Director, coach, or Meet Referee that observes thunder or lightning is to report it to the FSBC Head Lifeguard on duty.  In the event of inclement weather during a JSL meet, the FSBC Head Lifeguard on duty is responsible for making the decision to clear the deck.  The FSBC Head Lifeguard on duty is responsible for maintaining elapsed time after thunder or lightning.  The pools must remain cleared for 30 minutes after the last thunder is observed, and 45 minutes after the last lightning is observed.

 

When the decision to clear the deck due to lightning is made by the FSBC staff, swim meet spectators, volunteers and participants may go into the FSBC Café on the patio level of FSBC (limited space) or wait in their cars until the meet can proceed.

 

FSBC pool staff will consult with both FSBC and the visiting team Meet Directors prior to reopening the deck and resuming the meet.
