Monday 21st
- Part 1) Review (click-2-comment)
- Please check your workstation for damages and report problems to me!
- Logon here to get to your Gmail: use @student.bisdtx.org
- Here’s what your assignments should look like: (view example folder here)
- Yesterday was the Vernal Equinox (the 1st day of Spring). Checkout other Doodles for that event at this link
- Daily Warmup Activity: Here are the links and directions for today’s warmup
- Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com/h
- Link1: Windmap of the United States http://hint.fm/wind/
- Link2: Map of the US http://www.onlineatlas.us/united-states-map.htm
- Open Link1 and move your cursor around to find the windiest point on the Windmap. Use Print Screen to capture the speed and Skitch it onto your warmup. It should look something like this

- Open Link2 and Skitch the US Map on top of the wind map. Then adjust the transparency so you can see the wind map underneath (crop the map if you need to). Here’s how to do that:
- Add a label at the top with the name of the state and the wind speed
- Add Link1 (Windmap) to your link symbol
- Your completed warmup should have these 3 things and look something like the example below
- The windmap with the highest speed and a transparent map overlay (watch the video help above!)
- Link1 (http://hint.fm/wind/) added to the link symbol (use the research tool to find an image of a weather vane)
- A label with the State name and highest windspeed you could find
- Here’s my example

- Check for new click-to-comments and my responses to them (blue highlights are new responses!): http://goo.gl/TU5uol

- Checkout this information on which traits make good programmers and the Guinness Record ‘World’s Largest’ egg hunt

- “...the personality trait most strongly correlated with programming ability was not introversion or conscientiousness, but openness: a trait that's related to being creative and imaginative. What's more, over time to the present day, openness has become a more important correlate of programming ability, while conscientiousness has become less important. This is speculation, but perhaps more creative people are today drawn to careers in programming because of all the opportunities for imaginative expression in a world of apps, video games, snazzy websites, and social networks. Finally, the traits of agreeableness (essentially how friendly someone is) and neuroticism (how anxious and emotionally unstable) were not correlated with programming ability, pretty much refuting the tired stereotype of the socially awkward programming geek.”
