Dear Ann,

Hi! How are you? I’m writing to tell you my wonderful news. We celebrated Christmas a week ago and I had a great time.

Christmas is my favourite holiday. In most countries it is celebrated on the 25th of December. In my country we celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January. We have many interesting traditions to celebrate Christ’s birth. The evening before Christmas is called Holy Eve and my mother cooked Holy Supper. The supper consisted of twelve traditional dishes and we tasted all of them.

Most of all, I liked Christmas morning, when we had our family lunch together with our relatives (grandmother and grandfather, aunt, uncle and cousins). We spent a lot of time chatting about politics, jobs and our family events. We like to organize noisy parties with lots of food, drinks, music and tricks. So, this time we organized a nice party, too. Everyone prepared seriously for the party. We cooked delicious dishes. Children prepared different presents and prizes for the games. Our Christmas parties are never boring. We danced a lot and sang songs. Of course, children got interesting presents. As for me, I got a new mobile phone. It was my dream. Christmas brings a fairy tale and wakes a very special feeling of the family and tradition. That’s why Christmas is my favourite holiday.

New Year is my favourite holiday. My father and I decorated the New Year Tree a week before the holiday. I prepared some small presents for my parents and my sister/brother. My parents bought delicious food and drinks. I helped my mother to cook salads and a big cake before the holiday. My sister/brother and I decorated the house.

Most of all, I liked the New Year’s Eve, when we had our family dinner together with our relatives (grandmother and grandfather, aunt, uncle and cousins).
