Intro:  Welcome to The Angry Chicken! The Hearthstone podcast for try-hards.

Wanted to give a shout out to Nossato, a Tauren Druid from AIE who helped me lay waste to the Timeless Isle. Oh, and I’m also in AIE now.

Alexstraza Fix Coming Soon

Alexstraza’s Battlecry sets a target Hero’s Health to 15. Currently it also removes all Armor on the target Hero. Apparently this is not how it is supposed to work.

Zeriyah posted on the official forums this past week in response to player concerns:

This is not currently working as intended and we are looking into fixing this in a future patch.”

Hopeful changes to Arena deck visibility

Hearthstone Producer Yong Woo responded to a tweet a week ago, asking, "is it possible to have the deck still visible after you finish an arena run?"

His answer: "That's something [Hearthstone Designer Ben] Brode is really excited to do. We'll figure out the right timing to get that in."

Secret Busting!

Mage, Hunter & Paladin are the classes with secrets.  Know the common ones that are played and take steps to trigger them. http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Secret

Joce - We need to define “burn decks”, “control decks” and “aggro decks”

Mage - you’ll see mostly vaporize, mirror entity and ice barrier in arena.  Play weaker minions and attack the hero with weaker minions so you don’t lose your big cards.  Sometimes it’s better to not attack if you have checked everything else off the list.

Constructed will see some burn/control decks that use ice block and ice barrier to stay alive long enough to kill you first.  If the deck has played tons of freezing spells or gone straight for your face, it’s most likely this.  This means you will have to kill the guy twice or maybe even 3 times.  It’s tough.  Try to bring the mage to 1 before applying the killing blow.

Paladin - mostly you’ll see Noble Sacrifice.  This means when you attack with a minion or hero a 2/1 will be summoned and take the blow.  Attack with things that will not die or if you need a bigger minion to trade with something, attack with the smaller guy first so your big attack is not blocked.

Redemption is very effective with divine shield or deathrattle minions so if you see one of them come out followed by a secret that likley.

Lastly you will see the repentance spell periodically which will reduce a minions health to 1 when played.  Play minions that already have 1 health if possible.

Hunter - Explosive trap is king which does 2 damage to everything on your side when the hero is attacked.  Attack before playing things.  You can also sometimes take advantage of this to trigger enrages.

Snipe is the second most common. Does 4 damage to a creature when played. Play things you don’t mind losing or creatures with more than 4 health or divine shield.

Freezing trap is sometimes played but is rare.  It is a good trap returning a card to your hand upon any attack and then making it cost 2 more mana.  Attack with cards that cost less or have beneficial battlecries to use them again.  Watch out for attacking with anything that costs 9 or more as it becomes unplayable.

Snake trap summons 3 1/1 snakes when a minion is attacked.  Watch out for the buzzard/snake trap combo as it will draw 3 cards.  Kill the buzzard with a spell or avoid attacking it until you can deal with it.

Misdirect is rare and triggered by attacking the hero.  Attack with a low attack minion to try and minimize this.

Crazy Game Stories

Owned by Dills at BlizzCon!

But then I ripped off Artosis’ Priest deck and won.

Jocelyn

Playing Dills for Extra Life was SO much fun. Started off pretty troll-y though, proving I can’t build decks to save my life… But then Ysera, Ysera, Ysera! Video is on Twitch, whole thing will be on YouTube tomorrow. Side note, was the first time I played against someone with them on the line. Interesting experience! Plus Dills was very helpful.

Dills

Stayed up til 3:30am playing a LAN party style with David and Josh after Blizzcon.  It was epic, 3 strike round robin and worked really well actually.  We each had 2 strikes then I won with my mage deck in the last match of the night while the security was kicking us out of the lobby. Luckily the drunk guy on the couch tanked her for us so we got to finish.

Live Beta Key Giveaway via Hairy Dragon

So I have good news and bad news. The bad news is I fried my laptop motherboard recently, and my girlfriend's mac is too underpowered to run Hearthstone, so I can't play, and I won't be able to afford a new computer until after Christmas, when the open beta should be available, so the GOOD NEWS!!! is that I'm returning this beta key, for you to throw back into the tank of rabid chickens (Or give it to Kyle). But thank you for it in the first place, it was appreciated. I'm also thoroughly enjoying the podcast, it is the same wonderful, whimsical, off-topic style I've come to love from all of your podcasts.

The best of luck to you sirs and madam.

Hairy Dragon

He also got a second key from Blizz and wants to give it away. But he wants us to ask the listeners: What is your favourite Murloc quote? If you pick a random person from the best answers, they can get the key ;)

Joce says - Can we give it a hashtag or something? Or a Google Doc form thing? Cause as much as I like compiling email lists, I may have to smack you in the face.

Carta

Hi Guys and Gal,

I was wondering if you would want to approach a discussion about why there are so many disgruntled players who are not a part of the beta (I can take comfort knowing I am not alone at least).

Is hearthstone actually in beta or is it live to people who have received keys? Since there is no planned wipe people are already progressing through the game. What if the new WoW expansion beta testers got to keep lvl progression and even raid or arena pvp gear when the game is released? I think people would flip out. I agree that beta testers should be rewarded for helping find bugs and providing data for balancing, but this seems too much to me. It may be one reason why people who are not in the beta are not happy with the situation. Hopefully I will be joining the fun soon and keep podcasting!

Caliban from Dalaran

I can never decide, if I choose to replace a card in my starting hand, does it go to the bottom of my deck, or just "shuffled" back in?  I am tempted to replace some bigger cards at the start, but I'm never sure if that means I won't see him again.  Any advice on starting hands?  Keep them small, go big or go home?  Thanks for the help.

Dave

Hey Angry Chickens, last time you were talking about the order of ongoing effects and end of turn effects. Here's a couple of interesting examples I've seen. (Admittedly quite rare examples)

First I saw this on Dills stream.  If you mind control a knife juggler he will activate his own effect and deal 1 damage.

Second I saw total biscuit play his 20 legendary deck. He had Baron Geddon out and two Hoggers (Thanks to faceless manipulator). At the end of the turn one Hogger made a knoll then Baron Geddon hit everything for 2 damage, killing it, then the second Hogger spawned a knoll ending the turn.

I hope that makes sense! Thanks for the great show.

Dave
