DLA019-0157 Translation
LONDON
30th June, 1931.
Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 27th inst.,[1] I wish to let you know that when I arranged with Prince Troubetzkoy[2] to have three little statuettes cast in bronze [11339], I told him that I would want to see the first one in the first place, so that I could alter it, if needed.
With regards to the patina, I am very surprised that you ask me, a painter, to send you on paper a sample of the green shade I want, as this would be impossible; I have done some sculptures myself! I beg you again to send me first a statuette only done with a light green patina, and if you are happy to do this, I will give you 1,000 frs (half the value) of the first one, as a payment. If I am happy with this one I will ask you to send me the two others. Why would you ask more trust from me than I have the honour of receiving from you?
Yours faithfully,
Mr Attilio Valsuani,
33, rue de Coulmier [sic],
PARIS. (14e).
