‘Preparing each child for their future in an ever-changing world’

CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY

NEWSLETTER 24                                                                31st March 2017

From the Headteacher

Another busy week at school, with lots of exciting events - my congratulations go to our fantastic football team who performed magnificently this week - read the report below.

School Values Celebration

This week we held our first Values based celebration assembly where we invited parents and members of our local community.  It was led by Year 4 children along with Father Jason and we looked at the value of Respect.  After the assembly the children and adult had refreshments and looked at ways we be respectful at home.

Perhaps you could spend some time thinking some practical ways that you show respect to each other in your family?

Parent Survey 2017

Many thanks to all of you that have taken the time to complete and return the survey, if you have not yet had the opportunity to complete one, there’s still time!

Please follow the link to access the Hagbourne School survey, results from which will help drive decisions that I and the Governors take in relation to the school.

The deadline for completion of the survey is Friday 7th April.

Thank you for your support.

Sponsored Walk

We will be having Monday 15th May 2017 in the morning, weather permitting.  This is to help raise money for us to work with an artist to create outdoor mosaics of our 4 School Values (these will cost in the region of £1500 see example). The walk will be approx 4 km and will be around the local area.

A sponsor form will be sent home next week for you to start collecting!

Parking at Village Hall

Please ensure that you DO NOT park or drop off on the double yellow lines by the hedge at the entrance to the Village Hall car park as it causes a hazard to vehicles trying to enter and leave safely - there are often spaces available towards the rear of the car park. It’s safer to walk a few yards!

Friday 7th April

Just a reminder that school finishes at 1.30pm ready for the start of the Easter Holidays and we return on the 24th April.

Fun Run

Get in training and remember to enter the Fun run on May Day - more info to follow.

Double Delight for our Footballers!

Huge congratulations to the year 5 and 6 pupils who represented Hagbourne at this week’s South West Regional Finals in the National League’s Trust under 11’s cup and the Vale of the White Horse Primary Schools Open 6-a- side (East) Cup:

The team represented Oxford City in the South-West Regional Finals on Monday after winning Oxfordshire’s event, and travelled up to Bath in the knowledge that a trip to Wembley was up for grabs. The team played remarkably well, winning four of their six games to finish runners-up in the whole of the South-West region, narrowly missing out on the trip to Wembley.
The following day the football team went one better, as they won the VWH Open 6-a- side east cup at Boundary Park. The team saw-off competition from four other schools, remaining unbeaten throughout by winning three matches and drawing the final match.

Well done to Joe, Simon, Tim, Jesse-Lee, Mckenzie, Samuel, Alfie, Charlie and Will who all performed outstandingly to make myself, and everyone at the school very proud!

To win the open 6-a- side East tournament and finish second in the whole of the South-West region is an amazing achievement, and the boys should be very proud of themselves.
