Welcome to Week 9 Term 1 ‘s Newsletter. Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable Easter break. This week has been short but very busy.
Thursday we had an amazing visit from the Science Van and the students and staff were thoroughly entertained and educated by the couple who ran the sessions. Next term will be our Inquiry context looking into Science in lots of different ways for each Year level.
We welcomed our new Librarian Mrs Ellie Watene to our staff and we look forward to lots of exciting things happening in our library.
We farewelled Mrs Tanya Sproull, one of our hardworking Teacher Aides this week as she is off to make her fortune in the Real Estate world. We would like to thank her for all her hard work and flexibility during her time at Elm Park School.
We congratulate our Councillors and Head Boy - Ty Potatau and Head Girl - Quintina Ioane, who received their badges today in our School Assembly. We look forward to their Leadership skills being enhanced with this extra responsibility.
Next term Mrs Alicia Howard will be released each fortnight to work with groups of children from Years 4,5 & 6 in Enrichment PE (Physical Education).
Have a lovely weekend and remember Daylight Saving finishes on Sunday 3 April.

This Week in Review
Room 19 were pretty happy last Monday - we had a "hat trick" at assembly and ended up:
1. Having "Baby Shrek" for 2 weeks (amazing assembly behaviour).
2. Won the mathletics class for the most certificates.
3. Won the Zero Waste Wally.
We took this photo of us all feeling pretty proud of ourselves and Ms Johnston because she gave us our mathletics award.

Focus on Children
Room 13 have been producing some fantastic artwork! We have been learning about hot and cold colours and colours that go together to create a balanced picture. Everyone did a brilliant job with their picture and they look great in the classroom. The whole class enjoyed doing this piece of artwork. Learning about hot and cold colours will help us with our pepeha art that we are starting this week.
Here are some photos of our amazing artwork!
