
If you find an instance where you need additional ethernet or Wifi, you may use personal devices
but please first address the issue with the CIS Help Desk.
Network Switches
- If there is a need for additional ethernet ports and none can be made available by CIS, you may purchase a personal network switch.
- You may use the following suggestion to aid you in choosing a switch:
- The switch must be labeled as “unmanaged.”
- The CIS Help Desk can answer any questions you may have and assist with set up for the switch.
Wireless Routers
- If you find inadequate wireless signal where you need it and it cannot be remedied by CIS, you may purchase a personal Wireless Router or Access Point

- Ideally you will want to purchase an Access point
- If using a router you will want to configure it to act as an access point
- Disable DHCP, change IP, no longer use WAN port
- If using a router or access point, CIS would like to be involved to configure the device to prevent any conflicts in our environment.
This would involve initial configuration and choosing frequencies that are not already in use for Wifi.
