Monash University Biological Society
‘The Bison’ Newsletter 1.0
The BiolSoc committee warmly welcomes you into 2015! We look forward to re-signing some familiar faces and to welcoming plenty of new ones as members. We hope to catch up with everyone at O-week and have been working hard to ensure we can involve as many members as possible in our activities this year.
2.0 Summer photo competition
Due to the popularity of our photo competition run in late 2014, we have decided to give all our budding photographers another chance to show off their skills with a summer photo competition. So get your camera out this Summer and take plenty of snaps ready for a screening early semester 1.
Entries can be made under the following categories:
The viewing will occur in the biology tea room (Building 17) (exact date to be confirmed soon). You will need to print out a copy of your photo and bring it along (or give it to a committee member prior) in order for it to be pinned up on the day. A short caption should also be prepared. Photos should also be emailed with captions to email@example.com
3.0 Great Ocean Road Coastal Committee Placement
A research project opportunity has arisen with the Great Ocean Road Coastal Committee. You will be determining changes in vegetation composition, particularly levels of weed infestation, which contribute to the management of environmental values on the Great Ocean Road coast. Further details and application instructions are outlined in the PDF attached.
4.0 C&S Workshops

Attending these workshops will put you a cut above the rest if you are considering running for one of our committee positions this year! (also great for resumes!)

5.0 Merchandise at O-week
A fresh load of merchandise has arrived and is ready for sale at O-week! As decided through our facebook poll, in 2015 we will be offering the new green coloured hoodie! So come down at o-week or at one of our BBQs to grab one and stay stylish in your lectures. T-shirts will also be on sale at a special price during O-week.
6.0 Upcoming in 2015
Keep your eyes open for some of the great events coming up in 2015! Early in the semester we will be holding our OGM where a few positions will be up for grabs (first year rep, assistant treasurer, assistant secretary). If you or somebody you know would be interested more information on nominating will be available in a few weeks.
