Heroes Brawl

Blizzard has unveiled a new game mode called Brawl! We'll be seeing Brawls go live in a game update on the week of October 17th with the PTR receiving a patch for the system on October 10th.

Brawls are the Arenas that were announced at last years BlizzCon, but with a new name and new features.

• Play on unique maps with surreal twists and with custom rulesets.
• Three types of battlegrounds will be available.
• Mutators are gameplay modifiers that will change how you play.
• There will be weekly rewards.
• New hero selection modes.

Battlegrounds

• Standard Maps - Feature mutators which change the way you play the game.

Arenas

• Punisher Arena - Rack up points by defeating enemy heroes and Punishers. First team to 100 points wins.
• Sky Temple Arena - Capture temples and use their energy beams to destroy the enemy core.
• Garden Arena - Kill Garden Terrors and Shamblers, then collect their seeds. First time to 100 seeds wins.

Single Lane Battlegrounds

• Unique Hero Selection

They're changing how you will choose your hero for brawls.

• Preset heroes
• Shuffle - Pick from a custom lineup
• Random

Weekly Rewards

• Players receive weekly rewards for participating in brawls as long as they enter 3 a week. Up to 1000 gold can be rewarded for participating.

• Hammer Time: Hover tanks for everyone! All players on each team are Sgt. Hammers — with thrusters are permanently engaged! The cores are invulnerable so it’s all about capturing towers to win!
• Punisher Arena: Rack up points by killing enemy heroes and Punishers. The first team to score 100 points wins!
• Lost Cavern: A standard map, except there is only one lane. How will you fare when the enemy is in your face at all times?

New Hero Revealed: Blademaster Samuro

Revealed today at 8:00 am Pacific thank to Samwise drawing the new hero!

Will have no mana, is cooldown based.

MIRROR IMAGE

• Create 2 Mirror Images that deal 30% of your damage and have 50% of your current Health. Images last up to 18 seconds, and only two can be active at any one time.

CRITICAL STRIKE

• Your next Basic Attack within 10 seconds will be a Critical Strike, dealing 50% increased damage. This also applies to Images, and does not break Wind Walk. Passive: You and your Images deal a Critical Strike on every 4th Basic Attack.

WIND WALK

• Enter Stealth for up to 8 seconds or until you attack, use an Ability, or take damage. While Stealthed, your Movement Speed is increased by 25% and you can pass through other units. Damage taken within the first 1 second will not break Wind Walk.

H1 - BLADESTORM

• Become an Unstoppable whirlwind of death, dealing 285 damage per second to nearby enemies for 4 seconds.

H2 - ILLUSION MASTER

• Switch places with the target Mirror Image. Passive: You can control Mirror Images separately or as a group, and they deal an additional 15% of your damage.

Notable Talents:

• Level 1: Way of the Wind [E]

• Quest: Attacking a Hero from Wind Walk increases the movement speed bonus of Wind Walk by 1.25%, up to 25%. Reward: After hitting 20 Heroes, the duration before Wind Walk can be broken by damage is increased to 2.5 seconds.

• Level 13: Kawarimi [E]

• Wind Walk creates an Image at your location that will continue whatever you were doing.

• Level 16: Merciless Strikes [W]

• Basic Attacks against Slowed, Rooted, or Stunned targets are always Critical Strikes.

• Level 20:

• Dance of Death - Your Images use Bladestorm when you do.
• Three Blade Style - Your Images gain an additional 50% of your Health, and last up to 32 seconds.

Can you briefly discuss Samuro's shoes (the 3D Model) on ITN tonight?  I would love to hear your thoughts.  Is it easier to wind walk in those things?

This is going to be my Heroes sports talk radio Hot Take, the "meta" doesn't matter. Watching Kyle's pursuit to master league and combining that with my own experience, always keeping up with meta heroes is an inefficient use of time, since they change so regularly. A more proper way to be a good teammate would be for focus on 10 to 12 heroes of various roles with which one if comfortable and stick with those heroes. I would much rather have a player be really good with an unpopular hero on my team than someone who is mediocre with a meta pick. (I do think draft order and map picks are important, and having a stable of 10 to 12 heroes should cover those needs) Also, pre-tilting players should not be a worry, if a teammate is going to get upset during the draft, chances are they would have gotten upset at something else later on in the game anyway. Be a good teammate, practice what is comfortable and enjoy the match. Great show and keep up the good work,

My team managed to qualify for Blizzcon, so I have the opportunity to go to the US for the first time in my life with them. Since you have been filling some parts of it with various shows like Starcast, ITN, Embrace the Spoilers, Angry Chicken and of course the good old Amove Radio, I wondered if it's possible to meet you at Blizzcon, even if it's just for a quick talk about Heroes or other Blizzard Stuff. I don't know if you have a community meetup planned onsite and if so, if I will be able to make it due to team obligations and rehearsals, but I definitely want to meet you. So please let me know if you have anything planned :)

Also I will probably bring you stuff from germany like the picture I included in this mail. I think they're only available in Germany (it's sour flavour and juice). Idk if I can bring drinks like german beer or other cool stuff from germany (due to restrictments i think), but something like gummybears will do and please you, i guess.
