Project 2: Redesign a Logo

Due October 9

Objective: After choosing a logo that represents a company, organization, individual, or other entity, you will redesign it using Illustrator to reflect aspects of the company that you feel more accurately represent it’s identity.

A logo is a graphical representation of a company, organization, individual, or other entity.

*****If a logo is well designed, the viewer will immediately get a sense of what the important qualities/characters of the company are. *****

Aspects of a company/entity’s logo such as color, size, shape are very important because they will be the company/entity’s representative for years to come.

Action of logo design:

1. Formulate the concept-what are the values of the brand? what points should get accross?

**Write your thoughts on you blog, under a new post called “Logo concept***

You may also choose to post examples of logos you are interested in redesigning. Write your thoughts and ideas behind your choices.

2. Initial sketch

You may try several different ideas at this point. Ask for feedback from other classmates or me. Do your sketches in Illustrator, “save for web” as a jpeg.

3. Finalizing the logo concept

The fleshing out of your idea. Refer to the Elements and Fundamentals of Design power point on the class blog to strengthen your compositions.

4. Finalizing color, scale choices

Play with color choices and spacing of shapes, scale, texture, etc.
