TIME COMMITMENT

RAAs will be scheduled for duties at both residence halls and studios. Participation in all training sessions is required, and successful completion of assigned duties, projects, and performance evaluations will determine the fulfillment of the contract period.

Schedule

The summer internship does not follow a traditional 9–5, Monday–Friday schedule. Duty shifts will take place any day of the week (Monday–Sunday), based on the studio class schedule and dormitory duties. RAAs should be prepared for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

On-Call Responsibilities
In addition to scheduled duties, RAAs must be available to assist students even outside of regular shifts. In the event of urgent student situations, RAAs may be called back from time off to provide immediate support.

Aside from on-call/duty shifts, RAAs will be assigned to additional duties. Although some of these projects could be completed while on duty, some of the duties might have to be scheduled outside of those hours. RAAs live in the hall with the students. If a student knocks on a staff member's door (even if they are not on duty), they need to assist them. If one of our students is involved in a special situation, RAAs may be called back from time off to assist.

Holidays, Breaks and Vacation Periods

RAAs are required to be available every Saturday and Sunday, with no days off permitted on weekends. Additionally, Joffrey Ballet School will remain open during holidays, and RAAs must be available during these periods.

Meetings & Activities

RAAs must participate in all mandatory meetings, including housing and program orientations, weekly staff meetings, and one-on-one sessions with supervisors. RAAs will also escort and chaperone students during extra activities.

Performance Weeks

Performance weeks, which occur at the end of each intensive, are the busiest times. RAAs will assist with overlapping intensives, additional rehearsals, performance preparations, and check-in/out procedures. No days off will be permitted during performance weeks.

COMPENSATION DETAILS

Salary/Fixed Rate - $225 per week

The weekly compensation is $200 per week. If you successfully complete your contract from the start to end date and complete all responsibilities, you will receive $50 (per week) at the end of the contract. This would equal to an effective service fee rate of $225 per week.

Housing & utilities

Joffrey Ballet School will provide a bed in housing for the duration of the contract. Interns are required to live in the residence hall and will be assigned to share a bedroom and/or apartment with other staff members and may be requested to move apartments or residence halls during the intensives.

Meal Plan

Complimentary Dance Classes & Events

Interns are allowed to take dance classes during their contract and will attend all ticketed activities (that they are assigned to chaperone) for free

RAAs must make their own travel arrangements to and from the location. If interns are assigned to multiple locations, Joffrey Ballet School will cover travel in between the locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the list below, other duties will be assigned as needed by the Director of Operations and Supervisors. RAAs must be adaptable as role responsibilities may change. RAAs must review the student and staff handbooks for all protocols and responsibilities.

LEARNING GOALS

OUTSIDE ADDITIONAL WORK

RAAs must prioritize their job and ensure that all expectations related to their position with Joffrey Ballet School can be successfully met.
