IN BRIEF: Opportunity in STEM mentoring for elementary students

Interested in science mentoring? In developing transferable skills? The SABES program (more below) is looking for individuals to serve as  science-engineer mentors in after-school programs for kids in grades 3-5!

The STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools (SABES) program volunteering opportunities are

implemented through a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary project created by the Johns Hopkins schools of Engineering, Education and Social Sciences, along with the Baltimore City Public School system, and the Community Development Corporations at various underserved neighborhoods in Baltimore City.

One of the most prominent features that sets this program apart is the year-long commitment by the mentors. Throughout the school year, mentors are asked to visit one specific classroom once every 2-3 weeks, along with a buddy, for ~3 hours during an afternoon. Interested in learning more, or getting involved? Contact Anindya Roy (aroy21@jhu.edu). Please inquire by the first week of September!
