RC Formula Offroad (FOFF) säännöt (2021)
Esittely:
Näiden sääntöjen on tarkoitus yhtenäistää sääntöjen käyttö ja oikea tulkinta kaikkia RC formula offroad kilpailuja varten maailmassa.
OSIO 1: Pisteet
1.1 - RC formula offroad radan määritelmä: Normaali rata koostuu kuudesta porttivälistä. Lähtö, 100 pisteen portti, 150 pisteen portti, 200 pisteen portti, 250 pisteen portti ja 300 pisteen portti. Nämä portit jakavat radan viiteen sektoriin: 0-100, 100-150, 150-200, 200-250 ja 250-350. Täydellinen suoritus on 350 pistettä.
1.2 - Etenemispisteet: 0 - 50 - 100 - 150 - 200 - 250 - 300 - 350 pistettä. Havainnekuva A
▪ 1.2.1 - Portin suorittaminen: Porttisuoritus hyväksytään kun samalla yrityksellä merkittyyn suuntaan kulkeutuu kokonaan vähintään yksi etu- ja yksi takapyörä. Saadakseen porttisuorituksen ilman virhepisteitä täytyy koko auton kulkea portin läpi merkittyyn suuntaan ja merkittyyn järjestyksessä. (Katso havainnekuva A). Porttivälin peruuttaminen on kiellettyä. Jos kuljettaja peruuttaa porttivälin, tuomitaan DNF (Did Not Finish) ja porttietenemispisteet jäävät voimaan edelliselle suoritetulle porttivälille asti.
▪ 1.2.2 - Sektori 1 (0-100 pistettä): 0 pistettä on aina minimi mitä kuljettaja voi suorituksesta saada. Samaan aikaan se on arvo DNS:lle (Did not start). Kun kuljettaja on aloittanut radan, pitää hänen suorittaa lähtöportti kokonaan saadakseen 50 pistettä. Seuraava mahdollinen porttisuoritus on 100 pistettä.
▪ 1.2.3 - Sekatori 2 (100-150 pistettä): Kun kuljettaja on läpäissyt hyväksytysti 100 pisteen portin, on seuraava portti 150 pisteen arvoinen.
▪ 1.2.4 - Sektori 3 (150-200 pistettä): Kun kuljettaja on läpäissyt hyväksytysti 150 pisteen portin, on seuraava portti 200 pisteen arvoinen.
▪ 1.2.5 - Sektori 4 (200-250 pistettä): Kun kuljettaja on läpäissyt hyväksytysti 200 pisteen portin, on seuraava portti 250 pisteen arvoinen.
1.3 - Nopeusjakso: Jokaisessa kisassa on yksi nopeusjakso. Nopeusjakso sisältää kymmenen porttia lähdöstä maaliin.
▪ 1.3.1 - Pisteytys: Nopein aika saa täydet 350 pistettä. Aika lasketaan tasa sekunteina. Yhden sekunnin pisteellinen arvo on -10 pistettä. Jos kuljettaja jää parhaalle ajalle kolme sekuntia, tuomitaan hänelle 320 pistettä.
▪ 1.3.2 - Virhepisteet: Peruuttaminen nopeusjaksolla on sallittua eikä tuo virhepisteitä.
If driver rolls over the vehicle right after gate three, driver has progressed 25% of the course. Progress points will be awarded like this: 25% = 50 points, 50% = 75 points and 75% = 112,5 points. When driver reaches 100%, then driver will have valid time so points will be given normally as stated before. Timed course has the same set of rules concerning DNF as a regular course. (See 1.5)
▪ 1.3.4 - 20 second rule: If driver loses 20 or more seconds, progress points are 150. Even if driver finishes, the least driver can get is 150 progress points.
1.4 - Penalty points: Reverse: -50 points - Regular Gate Marker: -20 points - Final Gate Marker: -10 points
▪ 1.4.1 - Reverse (-50 pts): Points are given when a vehicle reverses on a course after making forward progress. Reversing is defined as any of the tires moving in the reverse direction, whether engaged or in freewheel and/or whether intentional or not. Once a reverse penalty is given, no further reverse penalty can be given until the vehicle makes forward progress. If a driver begins a course in reverse, a reverse penalty will occur immediately. Driver is only allowed to reverse once during one zone. (See 1.2.)
▪ 1.4.2 - Regular gate marker (-20 pts each): Each gate will be comprised of 2 gate markers. Points are given when 4 wheels do not travel between gate markers or any part of the vehicle touches a gate marker. A gate marker will remain "live" as long as driver has progressed the course. Gate markers that are moved by anything other than the vehicle’s actions will be replaced immediately before the driver is allowed to continue. Once any gate marker has been touched by the vehicle, no more penalties will be given for that gate marker. Only when a gate penalty is assessed will that gate marker be deemed "dead". No further penalties will be assessed at this point for that gate marker.
▪ 1.4.3 - Final gate marker (-10 pts each):.Final gate marker is otherwise exactly the same as regular, but will only give half of the penalty points to driver. -10 points each.
1.5 - DNF (Did not finish): There are multiple reasons why the performance can be judged as DNF. There will not be any point penalty points, but the performance will end in the point where rule violation occurs. Driver will be awarded with points of progress so far and subtracted with points of possible penalties.
▪ 1.5.1 - Vehicle touches: All vehicle touches intentional or unintentional, are given an automatic DNF.
▪ 1.5.2 - Vehicle out of spec: The only reason which can end vehicle being out of spec is if it’s missing it’s body. Then judge calls performance DNF.
▪ 1.5.3 - Touching the boundary: If any part of the vehicle touches the boundary judge will call performance DNF.
▪ 1.5.4 - Course direction: Gates must be cleared in their intended direction and sequence. Any part
of the vehicle entering an un-cleared or cleared gate in the wrong direction, or driven through out of sequence will result in DNF. Entering already progressed gate will end up in DNF as well.
▪ 1.5.5 - Rolling over: If the vehicle rolls over judge will call DNF. If any of the “top” parts of vehicle (hood, roof or possible bed) touches ground, performance will be judges DNF due to rolling over.
1.6 - DNS (Did not start) (0 pts): Is given anytime a driver cannot start a course for any reason. Vehicle must start course under its own power.
OSIO 2: Autojen rakenne
2.1 - Yleiset:
▪ 2.1.1 Autojen tulee olla nelipyöräisiä. Nämä neljä pyörää saavat olla ainoa autoa eteenpäin liikuttava voima.
▪ 2.1.2 Kaikki katsastuksessa otettavat mitat, luokasta riippumatta tulee ottaa tasaisella pinnalla auton ollessa ajovalmiina (Esimerkiksi katsastuspöytä).
▪ 2.1.3 Auton akseliväli tulee mitata etu-akselin navan keskiosasta taka-akselin navan keskikohtaan ohjaavat pyörät ollessa suoraan eteenpäin. (Katso 6.4)
▪ 2.1.4 Autojen tulee muistuttaa 1:1 autoa.
2.2 - Luokka 1 - Modified:
▪ 2.2.1 Auton akseliväli ei saa ylittää 370mm.

OSIO 3: Yleiset kilpailusäännöt & kilpailun järjestäminen
3.1 - Rules and event marshals: All RC Formula Offroad events are required to strictly follow these rules. All major events shall have a minimum of two marshals. These marshals shall be announced at the drivers meeting before any courses are ran. Marshals need to be in attendance for the duration of the event. Any rule changes necessary due to conditions specific to an event must be decided and voted upon by event marshals. Any questions on discrepancy of the rules or scoring shall only be handled and voted on by event marshals. All courses shall be inspected by all of the event marshals with the course designer prior to the start of the event. Courses may open after the event marshals have given approval.
3.2 - Scores: Are ranked by the cumulative total of all course scores. Highest total score wins.
3.3 - Tie scores: If two people end up in a tie, one that has more perfect 350 point performances wins. If they
are even, then the list goes down 340, 330, etc. If all scores are even, the score will be determined as a tie.
3.4 - No pre-running courses: Drivers that pre-run a course will receive a DNS (0pts) for that course.
3.5 - Course cut off time (Optional): Courses not ran before designated cut off time, which is three minutes after the last driver have finished his/her performance in the course will be determined as DNS (0pts).
3.6 - Running order: Before every competition marshals will do a raffle to point out running order for each class. The running order should be constantly changing throughout the competition. Driver who started first course should drive last the second course. Driver who went second in the first course should start the second course and so on. Depending on the number of participants the order can jump over one driver to cover more of the field of participants.
3.7 - Multple class vehicle: No vehicle may be run in more than one class at an event.
3.8 - Vehicle exchange: Vehicles cannot be exchanged for another vehicle during the competition.
3.9 - Vehicle sharing: Vehicle sharing is allowed. No more than two drivers can share the same vehicle. Drivers sharing a vehicle must notify event organizers during tech inspection or check in. Event organizers or marshals may make any changes to the running order of the drivers sharing a vehicle they deem necessary to avoid controversy.
3.10 - Changing vehicle specs (On course): The vehicle must run a course entirely with the same wheelbase, track width, ride height, and tires it started that course with. Any changes to the vehicle by
the driver, another person, or any device, while on the course are prohibited.
3.11 - Changing vehicle specs (Off course): Drivers may make changes to wheelbase, track width, ride height, and tires between course runs, as long as the vehicle remains within the specs for it's class.
3.12 - Course modification: No modification to the course is allowed by anyone. This includes, but not limited to, removing of rocks, stacking of rocks, purging a puddle of water, removing of vegetation, or other types of modifications to a course that could gain a driver an advantage.
OSIO 4: Radat
4.1 - Gates construction: Gates consist of at least two gate markers. Markers should be flexible material to allow straddle on each gate. Each marker should be approximately 50mm wide and 300mm high. Modified class has yellow marker on left and red on right and Unlimited class has white on left and red on right.
4.2 - Gate width (Minimum width): Modified = 450mm (17.71 inches) and Unlimited = 600mm (23.62 inches). Measurements are from inside to inside of each gate marker.
4.3 - Gate quantity: Six gates per course. Starting included.
4.4 - Course quantity: 5 courses + timed course. In bigger national events 7 courses + timed course.
4.5 - Course limits: Course builder must point out to judges and drivers before the start of each course whether there is course limits. Course builder can determine limits for example to stay on progressed side of gate and vice versa. Everything is possible as long as it’s easy to judge and fair for every driver.
4.6 - Boundaries: Will be made from whatever material organizers like to make. Boundaries should be placed like the changing and movement of ground doesn’t affect them. If there is movement in boundary it has to be replaced to where it was before next driver will perform.
4.7 - Start gate: Should be placed on level ground so vehicle can be placed right behind it for start.
4.8 - Final gate: Should be placed on level ground so vehicle can be easily controlled after finishing the course.
4.9 - Course completion: The course is finished once the last gate is completed and progress has been awarded.
OSIO 5: Tuomarointi
5.1 - Judge responsibilities: Judges are responsible for watching vehicles while on the course, and to penalize drivers that commit penalties while competing.
▪ 5.1.1 - Judges are responsible for keeping spectators at a safe distance from the course to avoid spectator
interference.
5.2 - Judges per course: Whenever possible there should be done by at least 2 people per driver. Both judges will watch the performance and then decide the outcome from their views.
5.3 –Spectator interference: If a spectator accidentally interferes with the vehicle the driver should be not penalized. If a fan intentionally interfered with the vehicle, and significantly changes the outcome to the driver's advantage then the driver should be penalized appropriately at the discretion of the judge.
5.4 Stopping after attempt: Once a driver has finished their attempt at a course, the driver must remove their vehicle from the course as quickly as possible, to allow the next driver to attempt the course. If a driver fails to adhere to the rule and continues to drive on the course, the driver may be subjected to a 0 point from the course.
OSIO 6: Glossary of terms
6.1 - Course: A course is the terrain that consists of a start gate, an end gate, and all the terrain in between them. Every course has an intended direction of travel, or “flow”, through the gates.
6.2 - Event/Competition: The coming together of drivers at a certain place and time to compete on multiple courses.
6.3 - Gate: A gate is used to mark an obstacle within a course and/or guide the vehicle through the course. A gate consists of two gate markers measuring no less than; 450mm (17.71 inches) for the Modified class and 600mm (23.62 inches) for the Unlimited class from inside edge of one marker to the inside edge of the opposite marker. The gate is the entire area between the gate markers; determined by the size of the gate markers and the distance between them. Every gate has an intended direction of travel, or “flow”, through
the gate. This direction will be marked, explained or implied by the course designers. All gate markers
are “live” until touched or straddled.
6.4 - Wheelbase: is measured from center of axle nut to center of axle nut. The vehicle should be set down on a flat surface by the driver. The front wheel on the side that is being checked, must be pointing straight forward. At that time, the driver will then cycle the suspension through it's complete extension and compression range while the judge measures the vehicle's maximum wheelbase. At any point the vehicle's wheelbase cannot extend beyond the maximum limit of it’s class. All the above procedures must be duplicated on the opposite side. Note: All vehicles will be teched in the same ready to run condition, and set up as the vehicle will be run on the course.
OSIO 7: Pisteidenlasku esimerkit ja selitykset
The examples and definitions used in this section are intended to help explain rules in previous sections not override them.
7.1 - Reverse examples:
▪ 7.1.1 - If the driver intentionally drives the vehicle in reverse, a reverse penalty will occur.
▪ 7.1.2 - If the vehicle stops on an incline and then rolls backwards a reverse penalty will occur.
▪ 7.1.3 - If a vehicle is climbing an obstacle and is bounced backward by the terrain but the tires are still moving
forward, no reverse penalty will occur.
▪ 7.1.4 - Once a reverse penalty has been assessed, no further reverse penalty can be assessed until the vehicle makes forward progress.
▪ 7.1.4.1 - Example: Reversing, stopping, and then reversing again will only result in one reverse penalty.
▪ 7.1.5 - Reverse penalties are assigned at the judge’s discretion if the actions performed by the
vehicle/driver is not clearly defined by the rule.
7.2 - Clearing of a gate examples:
▪ 7.2.1 - A gate is considered cleared when at least one front and one rear wheel passes between the two gate
markers, and all four tires are past the gate in the intended direction of the gate.
▪ 7.2.3 - All gates must be cleared in the intended sequence of the course layout (100 point gate, then 150 point gate, then 200 point gate, and so on).
▪ 7.2.4 - If all four wheels of a vehicle pass between two gate markers that gate is considered a cleared gate with no penalties and a gate progress is awarded.
▪ 7.2.5 - If one wheel from the front axle and one wheel from the rear axle passes between two gate markers, that gate is considered a cleared gate. This however will result in a gate marker penalty of -20 points and a gate progress is awarded.
▪ 7.2.6 If one wheel only from the front axle or one wheel only from the rear axle passes between two gate
markers that gate is not considered a cleared gate.
▪ 7.2.7 If the vehicle clears the gate in reverse, the performance is judged as DNF (Did not finish) and driver will be awarded progress points till the previous progressed gate.
7.3 - Counting regular course score examples:
▪ 7.3.1 - Driver gets stuck on 250 point gate. Front axle is over the gate line and rear axle is stuck behind it. Driver does a reverse and makes 250 point gate through with a straddle. Then driver straddles also 300 point gate and end up on the roof on top of the hill. At first driver will be awarded 300 points from progress, because driver rolled the car after 300 point gate. Then driver gets subtracted 50 points from reversing and 20 points for hitting 250 point gate. At last driver will get another subtraction for hitting 300 point marker, but that is only 10 points off. 300-50-20-10=220 points.
▪ 7.3.2 - Driver starts the course, but gets stuck already before the first gate. Driver makes reverse and continues clean through 100 point gate. After that driver falls back in the line and goes back down from 100 point gate. Judge will call the driver off the course and declare DNF. Driver will be awarded 100 points of progression, but subtracted 50 points of reversing. That leaves 50 points.
7.4- Counting timed course score examples:
▪ 7.4.1 - Driver makes the course in 34 seconds and hits 3 markers. Fastest time is 27 seconds. Driver gets 280 points for progression (Fastest time 350 - 70 ((seven seconds slower, -10 points/second)) = 280) And gets subtracted 60 points (3 markers, -20 points a piece), so the result is 220 points from timed course.
▪ 7.4.2 - Driver rolls vehicle just after the fourth gate and hits one marker during the roll. Driver will be awarded for 25% progression which means 50 points and subtracted 20 points from hitting a marker. That leaves the result to 30 points.
▪ 7.4.3 - Driver finishes timed course without gate penalties but is 28 seconds slower than the best time. Driver will be awarded with 150 points, since the time was over 20 seconds slower than the fastest time.
7.5 - Gate marker penalty examples:
▪ 7.5.1 - At any time a gate marker is touched by a vehicle, a gate marker penalty is assessed.
▪ 7.5.2 - Driver can only continue with the course when a gate is cleared.
OSIO 8: Kilpailuhenki
8.1 – Kilpailuhenki: Hyvä kilpailuhenki on elinehto RC formula offroad tapahtumissa.
