Los procedimientos de la clase de español

Classroom Procedures for Spanish Language Classes.

Created by Mlle Hill. Modify by Sra Edna

Missing materias?

Sra. Edna tendrá materiales de préstamo.

Students should not interrupt the class to inform others of their missing materials.  Sra. Edna will have extra pencils, pens, etc. for you to use and return. Not having your materials is not an excuse to not participate.

Necesitas un pañuelo de papel? Need a tissue?

Please help yourself to the tissue boxes located around the room. Please use the hand sanitizer every time you use a tissue.

Necesitas beber agua, ir al baño? Need a drink or to go to the bathroom?

Please ask Sra. Edna in Spanish to leave, sign the sign out sheet, leave one of your passes in the plastic cube, and take the “class bathroom pass”. When you return, sign back in and sit back in your seat without disturbing the class.

Entras a la clase? Entering the classroom?

Students may not leave the classroom once they have entered, without using a personal pass. Students may talk until the bell rings. Once the bell rings, or Sra. uses “call and response” students will start working on the daily assignments (notes on the board) and writing down the day’s objective and homework assignment. Unless is an emergency, once you enter the class you will stay.

Necesitas usar el sacapuntas? Need to sharpen your pencil?

Please wait until Sra. Edna has stopped talking and then get up quietly and sharpen your pencil.

Has estado ausente? Absent from class?

Please check the “Absent handouts “Moustache” file” to check for missing assignments and/or notes. It’s your responsibility to call me at home, or come a day prior to class to ask for your work, and not the day the assignment is due. All assignments will be online. All makeup work should be put in the “Inbox/white basket” in the corresponding class. Homework is not accepted the week before the quarter ends.

Tienes que tirar algo? Need to throw something away?

Hazlo sin interrumpir la enseñanza.

Please wait until Sra Edna is done talking, and then please throw it in the appropriate bin.

Terminaste el trabajo diario? Finished with your work?

Please quietly go to the “Extended Activities Folder” and select an assignment to work on, etc. Return to your seat and work silently. You can also use paper to draw.

Hay una emergencia? Faced with an Emergency?

Please refer to the wall above the classroom door for a quick reference to how to deal with an emergency. Students will respond to all emergencies quietly, quickly, and in an orderly fashion.

Tienes que entregar un trabajo? Need to turn in an assignment?

Please locate the appropriate basket for your class level and place your assignment in the basket. The “IN-White Basket”

Need to turn in an assignment when Sra Edna’s door is shut?

Please place it in the folder “Tarea” outside of her door.

Completaste todo en tu trabajo de entrega? Need to fill out your papers?

Make sure that you have your name and last name, your class hour, and the date in Spanish, label in the L or R corner (You will only need to fill in the info). No name, it goes to the garbage after a week in the “no name board”.

Quieres saber el significado de una palabra?Need to know word in Spanish?

Usa el diccionario, yo no soy uno.

Please go to the bookshelf that holds the Spanish/English dictionaries and attempt to look up the word before asking Sra Edna. She can help you with pronunciation, spelling, etc.

Necesitas un libro? Need a textbook?

Please go to the bookshelves and select the book that has been assigned to you. Use it and then return it.

Necesitas otra copia de unas notas, tarea, etc? Need an extra copy of something?

Extra copies are placed in the “Handouts” file cabinet for students who were absent.  Please do not use class time looking for extra copies; look before/after class or during work time. Due to money constraints we will not have too many extra copies, you can have another for 5 cents.

Quieres saber qué hacemos hoy? Need to know what we’re doing today?

The daily schedule will always be written on the chalkboard and in your weekly Syllabus.

Quieres saber si hay tarea hoy? Want to know if you have homework tonight?

The answer is always “YES”, plan 20 min. for Spanish homework every night.

Necesitas completar un examen, una prueba, etc.? Need to make up a quiz or homework assignment?

Students may come after school or during advisory (if nothing specific is planned for that time). If you need need help you can also call Sra. at home no later than 8:00 p.m. and we can Skype or talk on the phone.

Que pasa cuando suena el timbre? Want to know what to do when the bell rings?

Please remain seated until Sra Edna dismisses you.

EMERGENCIA: What to do in an emergency situation?

Fire drills, tornado or lock -up procedures are going to be practice during the year.

We turn left at the door and left at the hallway. Go down the stairs on the right and stand next to the teacher’s cars.

Turn left at the door, turn left again at the hallway, go to the stairs at the end of the hallway(next to the Block office), and go down to the basement. Stand at the inside wall away from windows/glass doors.

Lock -up:

Door will be locked and we will continue with instruction.

Door will be locked. Students will seat in the floor, at the back of the room under the green chalkboard, in complete silence. If you went to the bathroom and the alarm goes off, enter the classroom closest to where you are and follow directions.

What is the “Homework /Assignment policy”?

Homework is for you, not for me, I already speaks 5+ languages. If you choose not to do it, you will not be able to redo or retake quizzes, exams, presentations, etc. See the Class Policies and Rules for a more detailed explanation of assignments and homework policies. I will not take points for late work, but students will not be permitted to take a summative assessment , unless all formatives are turned in before that set date.

Discipline Policy PBIS

Number System:

You will first receive a green card on your desk. This means that you’ve been allowed to stay in class and you’ve been given the chance to change your behavior positively. Return the card to Sra Edna after class is over.

Llamo a tus padres.

If you make the choice to continue being disrespectful, you will receive a yellow card on your desk and a call to your parents. This means that you will have a detention the same day of the infraction for 30 minutes after school. Return the two cards and the form to Señora at the time of detention.

A red card means that you will be immediately removed from the classroom. You will be sent to the Assistant Principal Office and a referral will be made, and Sra. will call your parent/guardian.

Positive Reinforcements

Cupones, dulces, premios, privilegios, etc.

Students will receive “cupones” when Sra Edna sees something positive happening in the classroom. This could be a word of encouragement, using time effectively, following class procedures, sharing an idea, winning a game, etc. This is up to Sra Edna’s discretion. Please keep your “Cupones” safe in your folder or in an envelope. If you lose them, they cannot be replaced.

At the end of every semester, students can cash in their Pesos for certain “prizes”. Each incentive is worth so many Pesos. For a complete list, please see Sra Edna. Here are some examples: no homework pass, candy, treasure box prize, etc.
