What is a truck?

  1. The teacher will write the word “Truck” on chart paper and post image of a truck.
  2. Ask the student to tell what they know about trucks.
  3. The teacher will take notes on what they know about trucks.
  4. Explain that I will be reading an informational book.
  5. Read aloud “Trucks.”
  6. Review content of the book.
  7. Have the children answer the following questions: What do you notice on this picture? What do signs provide? Can you tell me about these signs here? What is the green truck doing...entering or exiting? What is happening in this picture?  What do you think the truck needs to do? where do you think the truck is headed?
  8. Add information to the chart paper.
  9. Summarize lesson.
  10. Ask: What is a truck? How do trucks move along the road? How are these trucks in this book the same as the trucks on the street in NYC? How are they different?
