Friday 17 October 2014  – Term 4 - Week 1

Value Focus for next two weeks: Caring and Honesty

From The Principal

Kia ora tatou katoa, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Bula vi naka, Kia orana Nga mihi nui ki a koutou, Namaste, Nihao, greetings to you all.

Welcome, new students and families who have arrived at Elm Park this week.  We had a busy morning on Monday with 17 new children enrolled. We have a lot of exciting events this term as we head towards the end of the year.

Inquiry Show Case

Next week from Tuesday through to Thursday from 8.00 am – 3.30pm, we will have our Inquiry Show case set up in the Auditorium and visitors are welcome to view the children’s work on display throughout the day. We encourage you to view your children’s work as they have put a lot of effort in this year for their Inquiry on Community.

Road Patrol Issues

We are experiencing huge issues at the front entrance of our school with parents dropping their children off at school. The broken yellow lines mean NO stopping at all. Some of the driving is so dangerous we are concerned that your children may be run over or hit by one of our parents. The Police are patrolling regularly and will issue tickets for any traffic infringements, to ensure that our school is safe for everyone.

Hats

Just a friendly reminder that our school hats are to be worn this term. If children do not wear their hats they will have to sit in the shade during morning and lunch-time breaks to ensure that they do not get sunburnt.  Thank you to all those parents and families who have purchased hats already.

Staff members

We welcome Mrs Sian Strachan and Mrs Lesa Someratne who are teaching in Room 27, Mrs Francesca Nixon in our Library and Mrs Monica Meikle who is teaching in Room 15. We have a number of trainee teachers with us from The University of Auckland as well.

School Counsellor

Unfortunately due to family commitments our school counsellor, Alicia Trethown has resigned and will no longer be able to support our students this term.

A reminder: School Closed Monday 27 October for Labour Day

Have a lovely weekend.
