New York Studio Residency Program Applications due October 9th, 2015

APPLICATIONS DUE FRIDAY OCTOBER 9th, 2015 by 4:00pm

Please see the attached information sheet and application form for more information on the program and application process.

In order to apply to participate in the NYSRP you must:

The New York Studio Residency Program (NYSRP) is a project of AICAD, the Association of Independent Colleges of Art & Design. It is an example of a sixteen-credit program for undergraduate art and design students in New York City, a model of art education that combines learning with location as an important ingredient, and is built on diversity, self-motivation, and discourse, to experience a semester of living/studying in New York. NYSRP is a hybrid of structure and flexibility, which results in a meaningful experience and bonding within a diverse community of young artists. The contact with their peers and other artists who are active professionally creates a community that is location-based as well as informational.

The New York Studio Residency Program is a transitional space for a community of peers that provides both support and the taste of independent living as artists in the world beyond academia. The work in the final exhibition has a freshness and authenticity that reflects the formula of challenge and support. Although the medium, style, and content of the work is individual, the show as a whole is an important indicator of how young artists are experiencing the world as expressed in their artwork. Numerous art events taking place in the city are posted so that students new to New York can take advantage of them. The “24/7” environment of New York City becomes an extension of the studio.

The students are partners in this experience in that they decide on the work they make, share in the daily use and care of the space, and learn about each other and how to live as an artist in New York City. The semester ends with a one-night exhibition of their work and a closing celebration with music and refreshments attended by large public audience consisting of family, friends made during the semester, artists, critics, collectors, and former alumni of the program. The students are involved in all facets of organizing the final exhibition including the show title, design of the exhibition and announcement card, and installation of the work facilitated by the director and the studio manager.

For more information on the program, please visit the official AICAD NYSRP website at:

What type of creative opportunity? Commission

Please describe the commission: Most people in our trade have

designers for their tableware that are familiar with trends in

the market as well as Italian tradition. Our website can give you

a sense. Our main competitor is Vietri and they can give you a

sense as well. We are looking for someone to help us design

future patterns to be created in Italy by the artisans there. It

is a fine line because their tradition is strong with great

quality but they are not trained to create new lines without our

strong guidance. Our studio and warehouse are at 2601 Madison,

close to Boulevard Brewery. We go to Italy next in July and would

like to take some concepts with us. We think the right match is

not necessarily a ceramist but a designer of sorts with a flair

for the current trends in fashion etc and fresh ideas to set us

apart. We would like to start with one or two concepts to see if

we work together well or not and proceed from there. We felt

having this resource in our own backyard and not at least

reaching out would be foolish. Please feel free to call for any

    clarification! Thanks, Julie

    the movement.

    About Camp Fire

    Our Promise

Young people want to shape the world.

Camp Fire provides the opportunity to find their spark,

Lift their voice and discover who they are.

In Camp Fire, it begins now.

Throughout our programs, trained, caring staff listens to and

guides youth to see possibilities, set goals, and map a plan of

action, allowing them to shape their lives and thrive.

Camp Fire focuses on three areas of development:

School-Year Programs: Delivered before and after school,

during the school day, over school breaks, or in volunteer-led

club settings, programs include conflict resolution,

cyber-bullying, healthy lifestyle, digital literacy, and

community action curricula, as well as mentoring and tutoring.

Environmental & Camp Programs: Offering traditional resident

and day camp programs, Camp Fire environmental education helps

youth develop a strong connection to nature and healthy, active

Camp Fire summer day camp, club sessions and out of school time

    Time Commitment:

12-25 hours per week for 8 weeks this summer.

greater interest in and funding for the movement.

    •   Editing footage into a series of short videos and/or a longer

    documentary-type film.

    •   Other media-related responsibilities, as assigned.
