Welcome to the Hatboro-Horsham Warriors Wrestling Club
Thank you for joining the Hatboro Horsham Wrestling Club. The club is a local all-volunteer organization dedicated to the development of youth from kindergarten to 8th grade by introducing them to the sport of collegiate/folk style wrestling.
Our focus is on building self-confidence, physical fitness and sportsmanship, while providing a safe and fun environment. The club is a part of the Intercounty Wrestling League (ICWL), and competes against other youth organizations from the five county area. Volunteering is incredibly important to sustain the operation of the club during the season. The season is from November to March. This is going to be an exciting year for our wrestlers!
The club website is http://www.hhwc.org/.

Volunteers Needed for
Mat Set Up
Our dual meets are normally on a Saturday, and we must set up the mats in the Simmons Elementary gym the night before the match. We must wait until any basketball games or other events have concluded to set up. It normally takes less than an hour with 10 volunteers. The set up time will be emailed earlier in the week.
Concession Stand
The Club sells food and snacks at each home match. The proceeds from the concession stand are used to cover the match and other expenses. We appreciate donations of baked items, fruit (i.e. bananas, oranges and apples), hot dogs and rolls, Gatorade, water, and more.
We appreciate volunteers who will help sell our goods at the concession stand. We will schedule your time at the stand so that you will see your child wrestle at the meet. The more volunteers the easier it is to schedule for the concession stand.
Time Keeper
- Anyone can work the clock at the scoring table
- The training is only a few minutes.
- This is a great way to get the best seat in the gym to see your matches.
- We usually need 3-4 time keepers; one for each table.
Scorer
- You will be able to see your child wrestle.
- We will provide training.
- This is a great way to learn the sport.
- Best seat to watch the wrestling matches.
- We usually need 3-4 time scorers; one for each table.
Mat Coordinator
A mat coordinator will make sure all wrestlers are at the appropriate mat when their number appears on the tree at the scoring table.

General Wrestling Information
- “On Deck” means the next match.
- “In the Hole” means two matches ahead of you.
- “Bout Numbers” will be written on the wrestler's hand. The bout number is the order in which each match occurs. The first number often indicates the mat number e.g. Bout Number 324 indicates he will wrestle on mat 3 after 23 other matches. When his bout number is the 3rd match on the tree “In the Hole”, he should start getting ready.
- “Tree” is a post on the scoring table that match numbers hang on.
- “Neutral” is when two wrestlers stand and face each other. The first period is always neutral.
- Before the second period a coin is tossed, and the winning wrestler will look to his coaches for a decision of top, bottom, neutral, or defer. A defer indicates we have decided to have the decision of top, bottom, or neutral in the third period. This is a strategic decision.
- The wrestler MUST shake the opponent’s coach’s hand after each match.
Length of Bouts
- Each period is 1 minute.
- There are three periods in a bout.
- A winner must be determined. Overtime (OT) will be wrestled in 1 minute periods. Overtime is sudden death. First score wins.
Directions to Matches
- Directions will be emailed to you before each match.
- Directions to Simmons Elementary School, Keith Valley Middle School, and Hatboro-Horsham High School are found at http://www.hhwc.org/directions.html.
