New GEO Course for Spring 2017: Dr. Adolph Yonkee will offer a new upper-division course (GEO 4750: Geoscience Methods & Careers) during Spring semester that will: (1) introduce students to the methods of geoscience research and investigation; (2) explore the wide variety of career paths available to geoscientists; and (3) develop the academic skills widely used in upper-division geoscience courses. GEO 4750 will include 2 hours of lecture and 3 hours of lab per week for 3 credit hours, and will count as a geoscience elective in all departmental degree programs. Please contact Dr. Yonkee if you have any questions.

Interactive Display Design Challenge: Design an interactive display that shows how awesome your department is and your club or organization could win $250 cash! Please contact Daksha Patel or Tiffany Snider if you have ideas or would like to help. Please see the attached flyer and attached rules for full information.

GSA GeoCareers Website: The Geological Society of America (GSA) has a rich website with a variety of useful information related to geoscience careers. Students and job seekers should check it out: http://www.geosociety.org/careers/ A related flyer is attached. Dr. Rick Ford is the GSA Campus Representative at WSU; please contact him if you have questions about student membership or anything else GSA related.

SVP to Meet in SLC:  The Society for Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP) will hold their annual national meeting in Salt Lake City next week, October 26-29.
