This guide is a work in progress, as some vital information is still missing. I will continue to update the guide as new information comes out.
With the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby 7th EVENT’s arrival in Los Angeles, California, I have made this useful survival guide for Trainers who plan on attending in preparation for the big event. This is the first time Cygames will be bringing Uma Musume overseas to perform, so I want to ensure attendees will know what to plan for and expect upon attending!

At this time, an official seating chart has not yet been posted. We do know that VIP seats are within the first several rows or so of Orchestra (this is information shared from the JTB vacation package). Some VIP seats however are randomly sprinkled across the theater. Going by the presale, it appears that P1 covers further back Orchestra seats, while P2
covers Loge seats, and P3 covers Mezz. Pit seats and upper Mezz/Loge suites are unavailable for this event.

The VIP products included will be the same for both days of the concert.
The merch pack can only be picked up at the concert venue on the date of its bundled ticket. The pack will not be shipped, so please be sure to collect it in-person the day of the event. Products in the merch pack cannot be returned or exchanged except in the case of defects.
VIP Product Details:
Figurine-Style Pin Set:
A set of pins packaged in boxes reminiscent of collectible figurines. Display them in their original decorative boxes or take them out to use as pins.
THE STAGE Band Shirt:
A T-shirt with metallic details. The back features a list of all the Umamusume who will perform at the concert.
The band shirt comes in one size, roughly equivalent to an American XL. Measurements in inches:
- Length: 30.3–32.3
- Width: 23.2–24.0
- Shoulder: 21.7–22.0
- Sleeve: 8.3–10.2
Commemorative Ticket:
A decorative replica of your ticket to keep as memorabilia. Made of paper.
Ticket Purchasing
!!! IMPORTANT !!! Before tickets go live
No matter what method you are purchasing your presale/general tickets from, YOU WILL NEED AN AXS ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO PURCHASE TICKETS. Make an AXS account prior to the sale going live so you aren’t scrambling to sign up as soon as tickets go up. Fill out all necessary account info that it requires you to set up beforehand. Have your card info saved to your browser so it’s ready to be plugged in the day of the ticket sale.
Precautions:
- Do not have adblockers or VPNs on when accessing the sale. This may interfere with accessing the website. Use a dedicated browser with no extensions and default settings for an extra layer of safety.
- If you want more chances at obtaining tickets, use different clients when accessing the presale (ex. opening the presale on a PC and mobile client). However, it has been reported that mobile has had fewer issues than PC when obtaining tickets.
- Do not idle on the AXS page for too long, and may get you flagged and require you to reload the website or browser which in turn may require you to log in again.
- AXS’s ticketing system involves a “Waiting room” which acts as traffic/bot control prior to the sale going live. Get in the Waiting Room as soon as it goes live, which will be 30 minutes prior to the presale going live. DO NOT REFRESH YOUR PAGE!! You are not in a queue when you are in the Waiting Room. Refreshing the page too often may flag you and kick you back into the queue.
- Once you are entered into the queue, your queue placement is completely randomized. Again, don’t refresh your page once you’re in the queue, or you’ll lose your place in line.
- On the seating page, you will need to be decisive in selecting your seat. Reselecting seats too frequently may result in you getting kicked back into the queue.
- Selecting an odd number of seats grouped together in a row will give you an error that will require you to either remove a seat or select another seat in order to purchase.
- You will be given 7 minutes to fill out your payment information. Don’t take too long filling out this information.

If you don’t have this option available, you will have two other options: Goldenvoice, Venue Presale and General Sale.
Goldenvoice and Peacock Theater’s presales begin Monday, July 27th at 10:00 AM PT and will require you to sign up for their newsletters in advance to the sale going live to obtain a code for access into the presale. The presale will conclude at 10:00 PM PT on both respective days.

Concert Preparations
In this section, I will be going over the basics of what to prepare and bring to make the most of your concert experience! This section will go over not just essentials, but also how fans enhance the experience though oshikatsu activities and items they bring along with them to the concert,
The Essentials
It is recommended to bring most if not all of these items:
- Mobile Device w/ your Concert Tickets
- Wallet (with your credit cards and/or cash)
- Penlights (with a brand new set of batteries inserted)
- An extra set of batteries for your penlights
- ID/Passport/Drivers License
- USB Cables / Power Block
- Portable Power Bank
- Snacks
- Handheld fans
- Towels (to wipe off sweat)
- Pain killers/medication
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- UV Resistant umbrella (for rain or shine)
- A bag and/or clear file to store items gifted to you by other fellow attendees
- Any gear to rep your favorite Uma Musume (BRING AT YOUR OWN RISK! Make sure to not lose your collectibles at the venue!)
- Water Bottle
- Even if the weather is relatively nice, it is highly recommended to bring a water bottle in order to stay hydrated throughout the day. *Peacock Theater only allows unopened plastic water bottles, but please wait for official word on event guidelines.
- Earplugs
- Do not underestimate the noise level at concerts, as they can typically be very loud, especially to those who have sensitive hearing! Please be sure to bring earplugs to ensure a safe listening experience. Silicone flared type plugs are the most recommended for an ideal listening experience, since the single use foam ones will block out sound a lot more.
- Earplug brands: Alpine, Loop, Eargasm, Etymotic, Earpeace are most common!
Getting there
Depending on where your accommodation is located and how you are traveling for the event, your means of transportation may vary. If you’re staying at the JW Marriott or any other hotels close to the venue, Peacock theater will be within walking distance. For everyone else, it may be worth it to look into the LA’s metro system or find a friend to carpool with. Uber/Lyfts are quite expensive, so that would be my last resort for a reccomendation.
You will likely need to take into consideration traffic and distance when getting to the venue. LA traffic is notorious for its thick traffic, so you will more than likely need to leave even earlier than you may anticipate in order to make the event.
The Peacock Theater’s website provides a helpful look into their nearby parking options. LA Live and the West Parking Garage will have the closest parking to the venue that’s within walking distance, but they may fill up quickly if you don’t arrive early.
Finances
Be prepared to set some funds aside prior to the event! Remember to consider costs for things like food, accommodations, transportation costs, parking costs, merchandise, groceries, and any other surprise finances that may come up during your trip. Tax rates are much higher in LA than most other cities, so keep that in mind too.
What to wear
Fans love to dress the part for concerts! At Japanese Uma Musume concerts, people may sometimes dress in fits that match the aesthetics of their favorite character (called バウンドコーデ, or bound coordination). These are simple, casual outfits that usually have colors/accessories to coordinate to the character they are representing. Some people like to keep it simple and wear general Uma Musume themed apparel or even just their everyday clothes. Regardless, you will want to dress comfortably to accommodate for the weather, which is typically around mid 70’s to high 80’s (Fahrenheit) around late October. In some rare cases, it can reach the high 90’s! However, temps tend to drop quickly at night, so it would be smart to bring something to cover yourself up just in case.

At this time, we do not have word on whether or not cosplay will be permitted at the venue. Please wait for more information to be provided on whether or not cosplay will be restricted or not.
Oshikatsu Goods
This is an optional list of things to bring if you want to bring an extra layer of fun by engaging in the oshikatsu (推し活 ) side of the concert experience! Oshikatsu is the terminology used to support your favorite idol in day-to-day life. Many people love engaging in this side of fan culture, especially at Japanese based concerts. You will see a lot of fans bringing their own cheering goods for this concert to express their love for their oshi (favorite), such as support towels, plushies, ita bags and more! Leading up to the event, you’ll find people taking pictures of their plushies or acrylic stands from wherever they’re posting from to post for social media.
For most items, you may need to search on Japanese sites and import via proxy in order to purchase. I like to use Suruga-ya, FromJapan, and Buyee for importing goods. Sometimes Suruga-ya has free shipping periods, so definitely take advantage of that when you can! I will provide search terminology for the listed items to help make your searching easier.

- Support Towel - A staple at every Uma Musume concert, fans love to bring decorative towels of their favorite Uma Musume character to show their support!

- Ita Bags - Decorative bags with character merchandise, typically fans will bring an entire bag dedicated to one favorite, but some fans will decorate their bags to feature multiple of their favorite characters. In Japan, it's popular to decorate these bags with duplicates of the same piece of merchandise in a repeating style, but it can be difficult to replicate for overseas fans due to how rare it can be to find multiple copies of the same item, especially for popular characters. It can also get pretty expensive to purchase multiple copies. If you want my recommendation on recreating this style, the twin wafer cards (ツインウエハース) tend to be the easiest way to replicate it without spending an arm and a leg (lol).
Keep in mind the sizing of these bags! Japanese listings will often have sizes listed on their bags. From smallest to biggest, it’ll typically run mini size (shoulder/hand bag) -> B4/A4 -> A3. A4/A3 sized bags are usually the size of larger totes, and require much more merchandise in order to fill up space.
Ita bags may also feature plush/acrylic stand pouches, mini support towel keychains, and rosettes to display a favorite pin. Some also feature printed & lamindated cutouts of the character featured on the bag.
Some people opt for simpler ita bags that are more cost efficient or use a variety of character goods. There’s no right or wrong way to make an ita bag, just do whatever you feel is best to express your love for your favorite!

- Uchiwa - Decorative hand fans that feature your favorite character and their names or specific phrases. While these fans aren’t made to be practical use, they instead can serve as cute photo props or as a way to potentially get noticed by an idol during a show.
Some uchiwa can be more decorative than others, but these are a fun craft/activity that can be done using everyday craft materials. People will typically decorate both sides, sometimes with one side having the character image and the other side an action phrase directed to the idol or the name of the character/idol.A few common phrases found on these fans would be phrases like “がんばれ” (do your best) “ウィンクして” (wink), ピース し て (peace sign), and “指ハートして” (finger heart). Let your creativity flow
when designing your uchiwa!
Search Terminology: うちわ (uchiwa), ダイソー デコうちわ (Daiso decorative black uchiwa)
Available to purchase: Daiso, secondhand sites. Look for ones that are plastic, not wooden. You can even repurpose old uchiwa fans that you may have lying around. Other materials such as ribbon, decorative jewels, stickers, paper and lace can be found at Daiso or any other crafts store.
*Please note that Peacock Theater has a prop restriction on any signs bigger than 11”x17”. Anything within this height or smaller is permitted, though please wait for official word from Cygames on an official sign policy for this event.
- Happi - One of the more common pieces of attire to bring to an idol concert. Happi are coats that are typically worn at festivals, but have developed in otaku culture to be worn during concerts as well. Ones worn at idol performances typically feature themed graphics, such as character prints.
Officially licensed happi coats tend to be a bit on the pricey side, and character specific Uma Musume ones are resold for very high prices on the aftermarket due to limited availability. I would recommend against purchasing secondhand listings unless you can score a good deal on one that is around its original retail price or wait to see if Cygames will have their own set of happis for sale during the concert.

- Penlight Cover - While this is an older release, penlight covers are a unique way to accessorize a basic penlight into a penlight that’s themed to your favorite Uma Musume character!

There are many other oshi goods to explore beyond these! You can search online for more options, but these are my personal recommendation items.
Trainer Cards
Trainer Cards don’t have to be just digital! Physical copies of trainer cards have become a popular way to exchange game IDs among fellow Uma Musume fans at events! These are custom made cards that can be printed and exchanged like business cards.
I have made a useful video tutorial on my Instagram showing how to prepare and print your own Trainer Cards to distribute!
Places to print:
Staples (Fastest turnaround)
You may need to bring something to carry your trainer cards in so you don’t have them loose in your pockets or bags. You can find business card cases/holders for pretty cheap online or at Daiso. I believe office supply stores may carry some as well.

Penlights
Penlights (ペンライト), or glowsticks/lightsticks, are LED light batons that are traditionally used in many idol performances. Penlights will typically come with a preset of colors that you can manually change to. In idol culture, idols are typically associated with a particular color (image color) to represent themselves. It is common to change your penlight to the colors of your favorite idol as a way of expressing your support for them, or for the commonly agreed upon color for any particular song. You can learn how to use your penlight in my section discussing Wotagei.
Most people will bring one or two (one per hand) penlights to these concerts. Bringing more than one to carry in your hand can become difficult to hold and could potentially be a distraction for others, so try to avoid bringing too many.
Why penlights?
Penlights bring an extra layer of fun during a concert, and allows you to be a participant of a unique concert experience! You can use these penlights to wave to the beat of the song and cheer on your favorite idol in unison with the rest of the audience, which only enhances the experience!
Where do I purchase a penlight?
While Cygames hasn’t revealed their merch lineup yet, I think it's more than guaranteed that they will be selling penlights, as they are a vital part to the concert experience. However, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to obtain one the day of the concert, as they are almost always a hot commodity item at these events. My best recommendation for now is to look at secondhand options, that way, you won’t have to worry about the possibility of not obtaining one. Right now, there aren’t any guidelines on what penlights are okay/not okay to bring, but it is a safe bet to assume that any official Uma Musume penlights from previous live events will be permitted.
Cygames currently sells their aptly named Carrot Blade penlights on Cystore, which is their standard penlight design. You will need a proxy in order to purchase through this method. Carrot Blade purchases via Cystore are limited to 2 per customer.
Secondhand sites will carry penlights from past Uma Musume events, though some penlights are harder to find than others. Try to avoid overpaying for your penlights, I would say a good price range is anywhere between $10-$30 maximum.
Penlight Basics
Be sure to pull out the small flap sticking out of the battery cover before operating. Each penlight has its own way of operating, so please refer to its provided instructions to operate. Most official models will have two buttons from the bottom of the penlight to turn the penlight on and off, and the other button for cycling through the colors. Some models require you to press down on both buttons to turn it on or off.
Penlight battery life typically lasts from anywhere between two to three hours max. If you’ve turned on your penlights at all prior to the concert, I would recommend changing them out with a new set or bringing a spare set of batteries just in case, otherwise you may notice your penlight dimming over time.
If you’re attending both days, I would recommend a fresh set of batteries for each day.
Penlight Colors
Thanks to previous live events, there is a basic understanding for what colors are commonly associated with each song and character. However, for some songs performed regularly at events, penlight colors may vary. I have made a guide that will have these colors written down for group songs, but for solo songs it’s generally expected to set your penlight color to the image color associated with whoever is performing the solo. Please refer to my Group Song Predictions & Penlight Color Guide for more information on group songs.
*Please be aware that the Song Predictions & Penlight Color Guide was created from my own research on past live events and in-game concerts. This is just speculative work and is only meant for baseline guidance. If you feel like a song’s color should be represented differently from what I wrote down, shoot me a message over on socials.
GREEN is the default penlight color in Uma Musume Live Events, used to represent turf. If you are ever unsure about the colors used to represent a song, there’s no harm in changing your penlight color to GREEN. Alternatively, you can also change it to the image color of whoever is performing on stage.
As mentioned previously, idols typically are associated with an image color, and the same can be said for each Uma Musume character! These colors are typically the primary color featured in a character’s introduction page/video, which is usually just taken from the original horse’s silks.

Calls & Penlight Routines
Many songs featured at Japanese concerts and music events are designed with audience participation in mind. This kind of activity can involve call & responses, cheering gestures, and dances, typically using penlights/glowsticks.
What about it?
Participating in fan calls and/or penlight routines is an exciting experience that you may only find through Japanese based live performances. Audience participation in live concerts make for a much more exciting experience that can bring a connection between you, the music, and the performers! I would highly recommend anybody attending the 7th EVENT in LA to learn the basics of the calls/chants involved for songs that are likely to be performed live. You don’t need to be perfect at it, and there’s a good chance you won’t be! But there’s no harm in trying your best and showing your passion for the idols and crew who are bringing the show to life.
Uma Musume actually has a much smaller subset of songs that involve calls/chants compared to songs that don’t, so you shouldn’t have to worry about feeling the need to practice. If you’re ever unsure, you can follow along with the rest of the audience!
The activity of fan cheers won’t be for everyone, and there’s no harm in enjoying the performance by sitting back and watching the show without participation. But I would love to recommend those who aren’t familiar with wotagei to give it a try and see if it's for you!
Learn the basics
I will solely be focusing on basic calls and penlight techniques to keep things simple (This wotagei guide has some aspects borrowed from a guide posted to Reddit.)
Chants:
Hai Chant
Hai chants will be the most used chant throughout most of these performances. Repeatedly chant “hai!” (with and when the beat begins); used during instrumental breaks and or a follow up to a PPPH. There are some cases where some songs use a Hai Chant within its chorus, usually it’s either just using two or four hai consecutively.
Hai Call Combo Demonstration Sample
Two regular hai called then followed by four faster hai, “Hai! Hai! HaiHaiHaiHai”.
PPPH Demonstration Sample
A follow up to a Seno Call during the pre-chorus by repeatedly chanting, “Oooh > Hai!”. Then followed up with a Hai Chant before entering the chorus of the song. *Not all songs will be initialized into a PPPH with a Seno Call or finish a PPPH with a Hai Chant.
Seno Call
Used to set up into another chant/call, “seno > (chant)”. Depending when it’s used will determine what next chant is to follow up with.
During Pre-Chorus: Hai Call Combo > PPPH
During Chorus: Fuwa Chant
Lyric Chant
Essentially, knowing the song in order to shout out phrases from the lyrics itself or as the backup vocals similarly like responses (The best example for this would be the second verse of Umapyoi Legend).
Chorus Combos Demonstration Example
There are various types of chorus chant/call. Depending on the song can determine which combo or if any needed one can choose from.
Combo 1 (Most Common)
Part A: Oooh > FuFu
Part B: Seno > FuwaFuwaFuwaFuwa
Penlight Movements:
Standard Furi Demonstration Example
Action: Repeatedly raising and then lowering. There are various setups of doing this furi, just
go with whatever you feel most comfortable with and as long the steps are the same.
When: Hai chants, instrumental break, verses, etc. A versatile type of furi that can differentiate in movement speed depending on the song’s pace.
Romeo Demonstration Sample
Action: Pointing at performers. Similar to standard furi, but the penlights are kept pointed towards the stage.
When: Choruses, or whenever chanting fu, seno, phrases, etc. A versatile type of furi depending on the song and can modify the pacing to fit the speed. Overtime, through observation and practice you'll pick up the timings for different pacing of the romeo in a single chorus itself.
Kecha Demonstration Example
Action: Extend arms out slowly with an initial dip in motion before raising both hands. It looks like a more graceful version of Romeo.
When: No beats, slow music, ballads, etc..
Wiper Demonstration Sample
Action: Swing hands left to right (vice versa).
When: When performer suggests it (typically using arm movements)

There are much more techniques beyond the ones listed here, but going by the presumed setlist for this leg, most songs being performed won’t have the most intense crowd participation compared to other idol based media. In fact, I’d argue that the most participation you’d see is in Umapyoi Legend. Even if you can’t nail down the penlight movements or calls, it will be very easy to catch up with everyone else based on the pacing and beat of the songs. It may even be helpful to find clips of past Uma Musume live performances and watch the audience to get a better understanding of what to expect.
With that said, I would highly recommend learning the fan chants of Umapyoi Legend.
There’s no telling if they’ll do the English version, Japanese version, or both, but I think the Japanese version is most worthwhile to learn as we have the full song for it. It’s the staple song at every Uma Musume performance after all!
Songs to listen to in advance
As covered above, certain songs will be paired with calls, chants, and wotagei. And again, I don’t anticipate for everyone to learn the calls/chants, but I think it would at the very least be recommended to familiarize yourself with some of the music before going into this concert. In this section, I’m covering songs that I’m almost certain will be performed at this concert.

I would also highly recommend listening to the solo songs of the Uma Musume characters involved with this leg of the tour. Some characters have multiple solo songs, and may have some if not all their separate solos performed. Every character from this live event has a solid chance of having one or more their solos performed, since they’ve never performed them overseas.

Further Preparations
This is a social event. You will be sharing a space with not just yourself or your friends, but complete strangers as well. Some of these attendees will be fans from all across the board, traveling from out of state and even out of the country. Even more, official staff will be attending this event, and it is important to leave a good impression and not ruin the experience for others. Please review this list to further prepare yourself before arriving at the venue:
- PLEASE for the LOVE OF GOD Remember personal hygiene. Even if you think you smell okay and the weather has been pleasant and mild, you will be in a crowded room for a couple of hours sitting shoulder to shoulder with other attendees, and likely being very active waving around your penlights. PLEASE remember to shower each day before attending, whether it's for one day or both days. Wear a fresh set of clothes every day on your stay, and do NOT leave your accommodation before putting on deodorant. You are putting a bad impression on others by avoiding basic hygiene.
- If you are sick, please be respectful of others by taking care of your health first and foremost. Mask up, take medication, or if you’re truly feeling unwell, skip the event. It may be a difficult decision to make, but your health should always come first if things get serious to where others can get seriously affected.
- Avoid pushing your way through crowds. Don’t shove or cut through lines. All seats in the venue are assigned when purchased, so there’s no need to dart inside the theater as soon as doors open. When streamers/confetti get shot, do not try to get out of your seat and invade other people’s spaces to try and grab them.
- Always ask for permission before taking photos of others. This goes for everyone, not just those who are in cosplay! If they say no, please do not pressure them into changing their minds.
- Please be aware that there may be some people in attendance who do not use English as their first language that may want to communicate with you. Do your best to communicate with them in a respectful and kind manner, use a translation app if necessary.
- Keep an eye on your belongings at all times! Unfortunately, accidently losing your items is far too common at large events like these. Luckily, there are methods for protecting your trinkets and collectibles, especially ones that hang from a clasp of sorts. Try to avoid taking out valuables from your bags and make sure you’re keeping track of your belongings every time you carry them or move them around. It might not hurt to invest in Airtags or similar tracking devices in the event something valuable to you gets lost. Also, be wary of theft. Don’t leave your valuables in clear view within your car or leave your belongings unattended in a public space.

*This section is more speculative and will be going off of past Uma Musume concerts I’ve watched.
In Japan, the Uma Musume concerts have always concluded with an encore after the closing performance. When the performers go off stage and the stage goes dark, stick around and fans will begin chanting “AN-KO-RU” (Encore) to summon the performers back on stage for the closing song, which has historically been Umapyoi Legend. The encore has also always been reserved for the MC to bring announcements, usually merchandise/game news. But given that we have no MC that has been introduced for this show, this may not be the case for our leg of the tour.
Use whatever energy you have left in you for the final song of the show!

For those visiting from out of town, Los Angeles has plenty to offer to make your experience more worthwhile! From themed attractions like Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott’s Berry Farm to Little Tokyo and its wide variety of food and shopping offerings, you will have many options within the area to get your money's worth.

Misc QNA
Q: How long is the performance?
A: Unfortunately, we don’t have a clear answer as to how long we can anticipate this concert to be on both days. Historically speaking, Uma Musume live events last anywhere between 2-3 hours, but given the smaller lineup and lack of an MC for an intermission between songs, it may be shorter than what some fans are expecting.
Q: Is there a point in going to both days of the concert?
A: While Day 1 and 2 share the same cast, we can anticipate that the setlist will change between both days, as this is historically how it is handled in Japan. So if you want to ensure that you will hear everything that you want to hear live, it may be worth getting a ticket for both days.
Q. What bags are allowed?
A: We unfortunately don’t have word on what types of bags are going to be permitted, but as a general baseline rule Peacock theater only permits bags that are no bigger than 14”x14”x6”. Please wait for official word from Cygames on an official bag policy for this event.
Q. Where would you recommend staying that's close to the venue?
A: There are plenty of nearby hotel options to choose from! Some of the closest and most recommended spots would be the JW Marriott at LA Live, the Ritz, Moxy Downtown LA, Hotel Figueroa, and the Residence Inn. There’s certainly more I can list, but these are ones that come to mind as they are recommended from Anime Expo attendees. Some accommodations have higher rates than others, so you will need to factor that into account as well.
Q. Will I be able to give away/trade merchandise with others?
A: Yes, I would count on it. Merch trades / fan gatherings are very popular before the start of a concert, and people tend to conjugate to meet others before doors open.
Q. Will I be able to record videos/take pictures during the concert?
A: I wouldn’t count on it. Previous concerts held at Peacock Theater (ex: Sound Capsule during Anime Expo) prohibited photos/filming, and it is absolutely the same for the Uma Musume concerts in Japan. I believe it is more than reasonable to anticipate that cameras will not be permitted during the concert.
