Mission of Treasures
Our mission is to reach, restore, and equip women in the sex industry and victims of sex trafficking to live healthy, flourishing lives, and train others to do the same across the globe.
Basic outline of internship responsibilities.
Treasures Internship program is a wonderful chance to see the operations and day-to-day aspects of the organization. We provide a thorough and unique opportunity for a person to see how we change lives every day through the ministry of Treasures. Also, it’s a lot of fun!
What’s the difference between volunteering and interning?
Volunteering at Treasures is a year-round opportunity to make an impact in the lives of the women we serve. Please visit our website for more information on volunteer opportunities. However, the internship is only available for college students, recent graduates or career professionals who are interested in gaining an inside perspective on the inner-workings of Treasures and the global community.
Where would the internship take place?
The internship will be in our office located in Northridge, CA
How long does the internship last?
The internship program will be a total of 12-weeks in the spring, summer and fall. Exact dates are TBD. The internship will require at minimum 10-20 hours each week.
Will I need a car for the internship?
We prefer that you have your own car or mode of transportation during the internship. Public transport and private car services are also available but at your own cost.
Can Treasures provide housing?
You will need to provide your own housing for the duration of the internship. You can feel free to reach out to local churches for housing options, but must do so on your own prerogative.
Are there any eligibility criteria in addition to citizenship?
Yes, you must be eighteen years of age or older by June 1, 2016 or 21 years of age if you are interested in going on Treasures Outreaches once a month. If you are a permanent resident, in addition, your institution must be in the U.S. You will also be subjected to a background check should you be chosen as a top candidate.
What perks does the internship provide?
Although the Treasures Internship isn’t a paid position, we offer an amazing experience to gain firsthand experience in outreach and transforming the lives of women in the sex industry.
Is the program limited to specific majors?
No. Most internship applicants are from the humanitarian, social work, psychological, and business fields. We are welcome to those in any major to apply for the internship field.
Does Treasure provide accreditation for internships?
We are not a accredited business, however we can provide authorization for hours needed to fulfill college internship requirements.
Can I apply if I am not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States?
Only citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible to apply to this program. NOTE: residents of U.S. territories/commonwealths are also eligible to apply. This includes citizens of Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Treasures Standard of Ministry
We are a faith-based, nonprofit that helps women in the industry and victims of sex trafficking to live healthy and flourishing lives. Since what we do every day affects the lives of the women we reach, we expect that all the Treasures’ staff, leaders, and interns hold high value and commitment to living out in the grace and mercy that we are given by God. Also, since we deal with sensitive situations and people walking in recovery we must continue to strive in growing in our maturity and using professionalism when dealing with these situations.
How and when should I apply?
The application for our internship will be posted on our website typically 3 months prior the start of the term. Applications are typically due 1-2 months prior to the start of the internship. In order to apply please provide your current resume including your volunteer and work history. Please also include a cover letter stating why you want to intern at Treasures and what part of the mission speaks to you most.
Please note that if we move forward with your application process you will be asked to provide the names and contact information for two references; one work and one academic reference.
