FINAL FANTASY XIV A REALM REBORN
TITAN HARDMODE P4 and P5 STRATEGY GUIDE
Firstly a little on why I am compiling this Strategy Guide. I love the Titan HM fight and after finally beating it a few times after a long series of failed tries, I would like to try and help out any other noobs like me start enjoying this fight and getting their relic!
Besides I do sincerely feel that the Titan HM fight is great either as a PUG or even in your own FC as a regular run:
- Helps make you a better DD/Healer
- Helps teach to memorize mechanics in a dynamic way
- great helps with building team coordination especially for FC group runs (in fact I would propose FCs run this fight regularly with own team and others in guild to foster better team building, sometimes without the use of voice communication)
- Its fun :)
- This strategy guide assumes you already know all of Titan’s rotations in all phases P1 - P5 and what each of his ability does. If not please have a thorough read and learn from the many excellent guides out there.
- If you are dying or having great difficulty in P1 - P3
a) may need to practice more
b) just pure bad luck (it happens, do better next time)
c) your latency is getting you killed (I fully understand and sympathise as I ran about 600ms till recently … now its sub 100 :)) (if that is the case try and refine tactics from this guide for P1 - P3 and let your group know
- If you are failing to kill Heart even with LB, then perhaps
a) DPS too low (try a few more times but be prepared to admit that DPS not enough)
b) Bad luck (eg Gaol on your DDs etc)
This is just a Basic Strategy Guide compiled by a noob to perhaps help those in need. It does not include more complex strategies etc tank movement, titan rotation, etc. If you can do a better Titan Hardmode Strategy Guide, then DO IT and POST!
P1:
LANDSLIDE > STOMP
P2:
PLUMES > LANDSLIDE > STOMP
P3:
LANDSLIDE > PLUMES . BOMBS > LANDSLIDE > PLUMES > GAOL > STOMP
- Some grps build LB by auto-attacking for P1 to whatever amt they need:
If the Grp has great DPS then don’t build or at most 0.5 of a bar
If not then 1 bar or more may be necessary
do take note that more time you spend building LB the harder P5 may become due to more Stomps sooner
- In P3, the Bombs are usually Circle > X > Circle
P4: HEART PHASE
GAOL > LANDSLIDE > PLUMES > STOM P> GAOL > LANDSLIDE > PLUMES > EARTHEN FURY
- Healers pls remove DET DOWN from freed Gaol person ASAP (esp if DD) (Thanks REDace0!)
P5: “HEADLESS CHICKEN” PHASE
MOUNTAIN BUSTER > STOMP > PLUMES > BOMB > LANDSLIDE > MOUNTAIN BUSTER > PLUMES > GAOL > LANDSLIDE to repeat
This is the basic position for P5. Vertical Stacking is more important than horizontal stacking so that players can strafe left or right (predetermined before hand) for Plumes. Make sure during P5, your group has already determined:
- left or right strafe
- Main Tank Healer and Group Healer (mainly for stomps)
- what fields Healers are putting out for Stomps and shields on Tank for Mountain Buster if any
- If you are attempting REZ during P5 (more on that later)
- Healers make sure to have pre-healed the Tank from previous Mountain Buster
- Succor, Sacred Soil on ground followed by Medica I spam till Stomp ends
Choose a pre-determined direction to help with directing Titan’s Landslide during Bombs Phase
- Reason for showing the Bombs sequence in this order is that usually they appear in this sequence with maybe Type 1b being flipped and the Row 3 will be at Titan’s side.
- Healers pls clear DET DOWN from freed Gaol player
- Bards may want to get rdy Rain of Death for the 10% Dmg Reduction after Landslide for the new Titan rotation of Mountain Buster on Tank and Stomps on Grp
- mDD will want to pop all DMG CDs and burst Titan after clearing Gaol and avoiding Landslide as you will have a window of about 15 - 20 sec before having to avoid Bombs
- Healers may want to cast Virus/Eye for an Eye after Landslide on Titan / Tank VS Mountain Buster if Tank is having a hard time surviving
- Tank get rdy to pop DMG reduction CDs VS Mountain Buster
- Healer start your Big Heal on Tank before Mountain Buster hits
TIPS:
- If you are attempting to REZ during P5, I think the best time to do it is at GAOL (see above pic) but the Healer that is doing the REZ should move in the OPPOSITE direction from the pre-determined one. So if the party decides always to go left (L) then the Rez Healer Goes right ( R ) and starts casting REZ during Gaol. That would ensure the Rez Healer will have a 6/8 chance of not being targeted by Landslide and complete the REZ. If REZ Healer is targeted by Landslide then stop and wait for next cycle. This is done so that the people being Rezed have a chance of surviving the upcoming Stomps and will not run into any mechanics mid-cycle which will kill them. So those that are rezed get back ASAP and run to the center (Basic Position).
- Again if Healers are going to LB3 REZ then it would be at Gaol. Those REZed run to basic position and TOP up AOE Heal etc
- If possible save the LB3 for last 10-15% of the fight and best time to do it is after avoiding last Landslide in the rotation if you could choose.
- Bards may want to use Swiftsong on Grp to help with movement
- Monks can go Fist of Wind to help with self-movement
GOOD LUCK! and hope to see some of you in game!
