One-Stop for Common Core Resources
What We’re Teaching--Standards:
Common Core Standards: Use the standards as your baseline for developing curriculum, units, and lesson plans. Know that curriculum goes beyond the standards and should always address the development of the whole child.
What They Mean--Understanding the Standards:
PTA Parent Guides for Common Core: These grade-specific, printable pamphlets can help parents (and educators!) understand the expectations of common core standards. Review them to make sure your classroom, building, district is actually implementing what they support, and send them home with students.
Seeing the Future: Publication by ETS K-12 Center.
Sample PARCC ELA Questions and Math Questions. You can also view additional math prototypes through CCSS Toolbox and Illustrative Mathematics (both directly recommended by PARCC). Use these sample test questions to compare and revise your own assessment question types.
Smarter Balanced Practice Tests: Create an account and preview what online tests will look like for students. Evaluation guides will be available in July.
Technology-Enhanced Test Items Taxonomy Table: A clickable reference chart for technology-enhanced questions. The tech-enhanced test questions will resemble these kinds of questions, so use it as a reference point for new testing expectations.
Teaching Channel: This is an excellent and highly-reliable resource for engaging videos for teachers! Watch short videos of teachers actually implementing lessons that meet shifted learning expectations.
My Pearltree: This is where I curate literally all of the resources I come across that I think meet new learning expectations and are practical and easy for teachers. Spend time browsing around by content and see what might help in your situation.
Twitter: Find the right people to follow on Twitter, and you’ve got a constant stream of quality information.
