Understanding the Differences in Course Schedules

It is extremely important to understand that 14 week courses follow a similar but different schedule than 7 week block courses. This is especially important if you are taking 7 week and 14 week courses simultaneously!

Example: If you take a 7-week course followed by another 7 week course, you would typically have a one-week break between the two courses.

(A calendar with 3 months: Month 1: week 1 to week 5, month 2: weeks 6 and 7, break, weeks 1 and 2, month 3: week 3 to week 7).

On the other hand, a week 14 course does not have a break in the middle. zInstead, there’s bonus time after week 14 if you need it to finish work.

(A calendar with 3 months: month 1: Week 1 to week 5, month 2: week 6 to week 10, no break, and month 3: week 11 to week 14, and a bonus week after week 14.).

Thus, if you take a 7 week course, and a 14 week course at the same time, don’t be surprised when you have a break in one course but not in the other!

Every course has a calendar located inside the course. The wisest action is to acquaint yourself with the calendar at the beginning of the course and take note of specific important days that apply - especially due dates!
