[Translation]

My dear Maestro,

I enclose an invitation to my exhibition.^[1] I’m sure you can imagine how exceedingly happy I would be if you could make the opening event more wonderful still by attending it. I have organised it for the morning, since that is when most people have time to look in for half an hour or so, even those who work.

Mr Bowring-Hanbury’s portrait is now hung, and thank the Lord, mit durchschlagenden Erfolg.^[2] But still, I am crossing my fingers as to what you will think of it, Maestro! I hope you won’t keep just one eye shut if you criticize it.

Mellékelve kiállításomra egy meghívó, ugye elképzelheti mily rendkívül boldog lennék, ha a megnyitást megjelenésével még szebbé tenné. Délelőttre rendeztem, mert akkor a legtöbb ember ráér egy fél órára benézni, azok is akik dolgoznak.
