24th September, 1933.

Dear Madam,

Mr. de Laszlo has asked me to write you and say that he very much regrets he made a mistake when he accepted your kind invitation for lunch on Tuesday,[1] as immediately after posting your letter he remembered that he had already accepted to lunch that day with General Pershing and some of the officials of the Legion d’Honneur, in connection with the portrait he is at present painting [6888]. He apologises sincerely for the mistake, and hopes he has not caused you any inconvenience.

As Mr. de Laszlo is anxious to see you as soon as possible, he would like to know if he would find you at home tomorrow (Monday) if he called about 5.30? Would you very kindly send a message to the hotel to say if this will be convenient to you.

Mr. de Laszlo asks that you will excuse his not writing you this personally but he has had to go out this evening, and did not want to delay letting you know.

Yours faithfully,

Secretary.
