Introduction

The most important thing you can do to stop Urban Splash from turning out wonderful Green Space into Car Parking is object to the planning application to Sheffield Council for phase 4. Sheffield council has to consider all comments made, and the more objections made the more likely the council will force Urban Splash to not convert our Green Space to Car Parking.

This form will outline how to do this and what points you may want to say.

How to Fill Out A Planning Objection

If you haven’t already you have to register on the planning portal. If you go to the following web address https://planningapps.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=RWI1PRNYLE300&activeTab=summary

You will be presented with the full planning application for Park Hill as shown below

If you haven’t registered before please click register on the facebook group and follow the steps through to register.

If you have already registered, please click login (to the left of register) and login to your account. Once logged in you may need to go to the specific planning application link again. (https://planningapps.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=RWI1PRNYLE300&activeTab=summary). You should get the screen below.

Please click the purple link to make a comment. That should take you to this screen.

Please scroll down the page where your personal details should be filled out (from your registration) to the commentator type box and select neighbour.

For the stance, please click object. Whilst you may support the development on phase 4, the best chance of getting changes to the development is through objecting to the development.

On Reason for Comment please click object.

Please then write a comment in the box about why you object to the loss of green space to become car parking. The best comments are those that are personal to you, as each has to be considered, but if you are struggling for ideas your objection could include:

  • Loss of existing green space in the poorest ward in the city
  • How you currently use the green space and the impact on your physical / mental health
  • How more car parking encourages more driving and our site is uniquely well located to walk to the city centre and on the public transport network
  • If the green space was one of the reasons you chose to live here.
  • How green space helps cities adapt to the climate crisis, by lowering the temperatures of surrounding buildings in hot weather and absorbing water preventing flash flooding in heavy rains
  • How converting parkland into car parking goes against Sheffield’s aim to be the Outdoor City and Urban Splash’s vision to extend the Peak District into the site.
