Complexity Clauses 

  • IEPs are not the sole responsibility of teachers. They are collaborative with district supports, and school based teams
  • Schools should aim to limit the number of special needs students integrated into a class on the following guidelines
  • (a)Two (2) Low Incidence - High Cost students, or
  • (b) Four (4) High Incidence - Low Cost students, or
  • (c) One (1) Low Incidence - High Cost student and two (2) High Incidence - Low cost students.

CAT 2 is a 4 year degree

  • Paid biweekly

  • No more than 3 different classes to prepare per semester, nor more than 6 classes to prepare full year. A course taught in both semesters is counted as two preparations
  • Guaranteed prep block equal to the time of one credit course over the course of the year
  • 40 consecutive minute lunch between 11-130
  • Full time teachers assigned core responsibility for 6/8 periods or equivalent
  • Teachers teaching 6/8 will not be assigned to teach more than 3 periods per semester
  • Schools on a full two day cycle (full year), teachers cannot have more than 3 classes to teach a day.

A 4 year BEd with no experience starts at level 3 based on what I was able to locate, but it is important to note that Quebec's grid allows all teachers to reach the maximum salary with years of experience

Stipulations for assignable time

  • 5 hours a week (200 hours per year) teachers can decide how to utilize the time based on the following teacher duties from clause 8-2.01 and can be carried out during any part of the meal period that exceeds 55 minutes:
  • To prepare and present courses and provide developmental and cognitive learning activities within the guidelines of the authorized programs;
  • to work together with the other teachers and the personnel of the school in order to take the appropriate measures to meet the individual needs of students;
  • To organize and supervise student activities;
  • To organize and supervise workplace internships;
  • To be responsible for providing support (encadrement);
  • to be responsible for providing remediation;
  •  to supervise the students for whom he or she is responsible as well as other students in his or her presence;
  • to evaluate the performance and progress of students for whom he or she is responsible and to report on them to the school administration and to parents according to the system in effect;
  • to monitor the late arrivals and absences of his or her students and to report them to the school administration according to the system in effect;
  • to participate in meetings relating to his or her work;
  •  to perform other duties usually assigned to teaching personnel.
  • These 200 hours  also include 10 group (staff)meetings and the first three meetings with parents.
  • 2 hours per week (80 hours per year) the teacher can determine the location
  • Elementary teachers are entitled to one hour per week not entered in their schedule for support
  • Any additional assigned work will provide additional compensation
