Three more GvG cards revealed

The red vs blue GvG voting is still underway. Two more cards have been revealed.

Spare Parts

Blizz put up a slightly deeper dive into Spare Parts on the official site this week, complete with nice images of all seven Spare Parts, and two more card reveals. There was a lot to talk about at BlizzCon so I feel like this is a good time to talk a little more about Spare Parts and what they mean for Hearthstone.

Spare Parts are all 1 Mana spells that certain cards randomly put into your hand. They are all technically neutral but there are Class-specific cards that yield Spare Parts.

Internal Blizzard Email from Dustin Browder to Eric Dodds

Dustin Browder, the Game Director for StarCraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm, wrote an email to Hearthstone’s Lead Designer Eric Dodds back in 2012 saying:

“Your game is being played on 4 computers in my area and there are 4 people around one of the monitors watching a game being played.

I’m going to have to make some rules about playing it during work hours.

You and your team are going to win.”

Crazy Game Stories

Andrew

Hello mad roosters,

I was inspired by total biscuit's all legendary deck, and decided to create my own, knowing I'd get some crazy games out of it. I went with Warlock, because Jarraxus is best, and I threw all of my legendaries in there, and some other fun cards including two faceless manips. I queued up against a priest, and got to work. Due to some crazy faceless plays, I had three summoning portals out, and was able to play a 1 mana sylvanas on turn 10, along with a cheap hogger, KT and Feugen. I'm at 1HP, and the priest plays a DEATHWING. My Sylvanas was on board still. Her deathrattle triggered, giving me a deathwing and leaving him with no cards and no minions. He passes to me, with 25 hp remaining. I topdeck a soulfire. I play Holy Nova, Holy Smite and Mind blast, all gived to me by Lorewalker Cho, run Deathwing into him and play my soulfire for exact lethal. Definitely the craziest game I've ever played.

Dear Cantankerous Cluckers,

I was listening to this week’s podcast where you discussed Zeriyah’s post on the Blizzard forums.  The point was made that a lot of the fan-requested features would contribute to the complexity of the UI and negatively impact the accessibility of the game for new players.  I’ve heard this argument used before when talking about both increasing the number of available deck slots and about improving the search/filter options in the Collection/Deck Building screens.  I think that Blizzard’s design policy of creating simple game mechanics/UI whilst ensuring lots of strategic depth is admirable.  A constant stream of new people joining the Hearthstone community can only ever be a good thing for the game.  That having been said, I think there’s a relatively simple solution to the problem.

Hearthstone needs an API.

I think the Angry Chicken need to ask Blizzard to get working on this now.  Blizzard clearly pay very close attention to feature-creep demands from Garrett, Dills and Jocelyn and will prioritise it forthwith.  I’m sure if the demand is made there will be a 50/50 chance of it being implemented.  Hurrah!

Dustin

Howdy Cluckers,

You all probably know me better as berserkergnome, I wanted to bring up a situation I have been having and get your guys thoughts on it.

I have a severe anxiety disorder and it has started to creep in to my gaming. I have quit playing the more social games like WOW for more solo games like Hearthstone. I mainly stick to games that don't have a chat system so that I don't have to hear comments from others.  I just can't seem to deal well with the fear of hearing the other players ripping into me or another player with the "noob" comments and such. So I was wondering if this is something that you guys might have faced and how you deal with it.

Thanks guys love the show.
