1. How long will it take for my Finch to grow?
There is no hard-set growth schedule. Your birb grows up based on your interaction with your birb. Talk to them after their adventures, pet them by rubbing their head, and check-in with them frequently. The more you use the app, the faster they grow! However, it’s typically about 10 adventure days to toddler, 20 to child, 40 to teen, and 60-70 to adult.
2. How can I change the color of my birb?
Each time your birb ages up, it unlocks the ability to change the color of a new part of its body. You will get a new color change for “free” at the age-up process and all other color dyes can be purchased from Da Finci.
- Baby: All gray
- Toddler: Body and beak
- Child: Headpatch and wings
- Teen: Cheeks and feet
- Adult: belly patch
3. What happens when my birb becomes an adult? Can it die?
No, the devs designed pets to never die because that would cause too much anxiety! After your birb becomes an adult, the travel agency unlocks and they can go on all-new adventures to new locations!
4. Where can they travel to?
Current places your birb can visit as of 4/21: Alps, Bali, Maui, Paris, Paro, Serengeti, Sonoran Desert, Tokyo

5. How do I get more rainbow stones? Why am I only getting energy instead of stones?
Journaling is one of the best ways to get stones! Do your daily adventure, complete your goals, start Journeys, and add friends! With adding friends, the first one will give you 600 rainbow stones, the next 500, 400, 300, and then any subsequent ones will be 10. You can also share your invite code for new people to the app to get 600 stones! Extra energy does help with the bond between you and your birb!
6. How do I find my friend code? Can I change my username?
Tap on the Tree Town icon on your home screen. It is also accessible by clicking on the Finch head in the lower-left corner and then the Tree Town Icon. At the bottom of the screen, there is a pencil by the human name. This is where you can change your name! Just below that is your friend code. Your friend code can also be located in settings under Invite Friends.
7. I invited a friend, where are my Rainbow Stones?
When it comes to Friend Code vs Invite Code (the same code!), you only get the Rainbow Stones if your friend is new enough to the app to be counted as a referral (and there can be a tiny bit of a delay, so be patient!). You must be their friend in the app for it to count! To accept the reward, go to your settings and the refer a friend option.
8. How do I add someone to my Tree Town?
To add someone with their friend code, tap on the Finch head in the lower-left corner, then tap on the Tree Town icon. You can also reach this screen by clicking on the Tree Town icon on your home screen. Scroll down and you will see the option to add a neighbor!
9. How did someone visit me who isn’t in my tree? How do I add them?
If someone adds you to their Tree Town, it gives them the option to send Good Vibes (hugs, strength, thoughts, etc) and come visit you. You have the option to turn off visitors who are not in your tree by going to Settings (the gear in the upper left corner), and scroll to the Customization section. Tap on Pet visitors and turn on the toggle for Only Tree Town neighbors. 14. Can anyone else see what I write in the app?
Nope! Your data is stored locally (and only) on your phone for your privacy. Finch was designed with privacy in mind.

Because the data is only saved locally for privacy, unless you have previously created a save file there is no way to access a birb after deleting the app.

Tap on the quote you wish to unmute and select yes at the prompt to confirm.
18. How do I set a daily/repeating goal?
There are a couple of ways to do this! The first is just to write the word daily after the goal. The next is to tap the 3 dots next to the goal, tap edit goal, and select the Repeat it option, then select whether you want it to select daily, weekly, or monthly, then the actual interval. Repeating goals can also be set up under the Journey option. Tap the icon in the upper right corner. Select Start a new Journey and then select the Journey that you would like to start. Under each Journey, there are multiple repeating goals to choose from. Pick the ones you want (or add your own at the bottom!) and click Start Journey.
19. Why does my reflection have a happy face when I’m talking about something sad?
The AI does its best to interpret what you wrote, but sometimes it just doesn’t get it right. You can fix it though! Just tap the face beside it and it will give you the option to change it. If you’re only seeing that it was marked positive from one of your news messages, tap on the icon in the lower right corner of your home screen and scroll down to the reflection. From here, you can tap on the face to change it.
20. Can I change their likes or dislikes?
At this time, no. That doesn’t mean it’s not something the Team won’t revisit in the future!

It’s just one adventure per day. Your birb needs time to rest and reflect after their big outing every day!

25. Why is Finch called Finch?
Atticus Finch, from to Kill a Mocking Bird! Here’s a little more in the words of one of the Developers:
http://tiny.cc/namedFinch
Image description for link, a facebook comment from one of the developers
Stephanie Yuan:
The story behind how Nino Aquinas and landed on Finch as the app name (and why Atticus was included as a name suggestion too!):
Nino and J were brainstorming names for our app a year ago before we
had a concrete self care app idea to try building. We were trying to come
up with a nice flexible name that could last through different versions of
Finch because we expected many of our ideas for Finch to fail.
Nino had randomly suggested Finch from Atticus Finch in "To Kill a
Mockingbird N which got me interested in how finch birds were typically
symbolized as. " We discovered that finch birds had quite inspirational
personalities that were lively, inquisitive, and energetic while surviving
best with support from other finches-- which sounded a lot like what
humans strive for with self-care and mental health! It's funny in hindsight
that tripling down on "Finch' conceptually as a pet was most helpful for
Users!
And the rest is history, all thanks to Atticus Finch.
