Samaggi Games 2017

The following is a draft of information and rules for Samaggi Games 2017 and its sporting events.

The organisational committee has the right to change any and all rules within reason.

If you see any rule that you think needs clarification or you think should be changed, please send a message to: sport@samaggisamagom.com or line me (contact information below). The team will discuss the suggestion, and update the booklet if need be.

Registration deadline is February 4th, 2017.

General rules and information

General rules for universities

  1. At most two universities can team up if either or both universities do not have sufficient athletes. Only one of the teams must let the Samaggi team know when signing up.
  2. Points will be deducted for universities arriving late for registration; the period of registration is 8.00 – 8.25 AM. Ten points will be deducted for ever fifteen minutes of tardy.
  3. Medals will be awarded at the end of respective events. A trophy will be awarded at the end for the team with most accumulative points.

General rules for athletes

  1. All athletes must be members of their university’s Thai Societies, and are representing the societies in all competitions.
  2. All athletes must present their University ID cards during registration. Athletes who fail to do so may not be allowed to play.
  3. All athletes must be punctual; it is recommended that all athletes arrive at least five minutes before each game. All athletes or teams arriving later than five minutes after scheduled event will be disqualified. Tardy will result in deduction of points or disadvantages in game play dependent upon respective heads of sports’ discretion.
  4. All athletes must not wear accessories, including by not limited to earrings, watch, and bracelets, for safety precaution.
  5. All athletes must wear non-marking shoes in all indoor arenas.
  6. All athletes are recommended to trim nails prior to all competitions for their own as well as fellow competitor’s safety.
  7. Athletes may wish to challenge a referee’s ruling, but respective heads of sport’s rulings are final.

General rules for all attendees

  1. Food and drinks are not allowed in indoors area unless specified.
  2. Alcohol is not allowed on the event’s grounds.

General information for all

  1. All draws are randomly generated.
  2. Presidents or leads of university teams or Thai Societies are highly encouraged to read the entire packet to properly inform team members to prevent disqualifications.
  3. All athletes are highly encouraged to read the packet, especially their sport’s rules, should they wish to challenge referees or rulings during games.
  4. Paramedics are available throughout the day. Contact staff should there rise any accidents.
  5. The entry fee for all attendees is £ 6.00.

Grounds for disqualification

  1. Failure to register as a university team within time limit
  2. Athlete or team’s failure to present themselves within time limit
  3. Athlete or team’s attitude or lack of sportsmanship to the discretion of each head or heads of sports
  4. Athlete or team’s use of excessive and blatant aggression both during and between games
  5. Athlete or team’s lack of proper footwear

Transportation

The event is held at London, please come as you normally would. It is accessible by automobiles, national rail, or plane.

Once in London, the easiest way to come to the venue is by the London Underground. Sportsdock, the primary venue, is at UEL. The closest stations are Gallions Reach or Cyprus.

We will provide shuttle buses between the two venues throughout the day. Buses will run every ten minutes during peak periods, and every twenty minutes during the rest of the day.

Accumulative Point System

Each team accumulates points throughout events. The team with the most point will be presented a trophy.

Points will be awarded in accordance to the place in which each university finishes at for each sport.

Bonus points will also be awarded to teams based on amount of attendees and spirit.

Knockout stage

To start the game, both captains will come to the centre of the field. The referee will have a strand of grass is one of his or her hand; the captain of the team on the left column of the fixture will be asked to select a hand. Should he guess correctly, he may choose either: pitch sides or who gets to kick-off first. The other captain will choose the other option.

Teams have precisely three minutes between halves. Kick-off will begin immediately at five minutes after half-time. The teams will switch sides; the team that did not kick-off will kick-off the second half.

There is no offside.

Winners of each pool will proceed to quarterfinals.
