1.2.2 Update

  • SIMPLE TABS no longer forgets tabs; instead you can remove them manually if need be.
  • The "Item" tab is no longer a forced part of the exclude list, but the troublesome panel inside it is hardcoded to be ignored.
  • The preferences button now opens the SIMPLE TABS preferences instead of saving them, because saving is now done automatically when you make changes.
  • The UI is smaller to fit the extra buttons more comfortably.
  • The sidebar no longer automatically opens on refresh/update, but this can be turned on in the preferences.
  • There are new buttons to backup and restore the add-on preferences.
  • PowerManage added integration, so when you toggle an add-on or preset, it tells SIMPLE TABS to update the sidebar.

WHAT

SIMPLE TABS is a Blender addon to help users navigate the N menu

This product has the following features:

  1. Allows user to reorder the N menu
  2. Allows user to rename items on the N menu
  3. Allows user to combine items on the N menu  

WHY

The N menu has become overly complicated and for most users impossible to navigate. SIMPLE TABS will provide help until Blender solves the problem properly.

HOW

You simply install the SIMPLE TABS addon using Preferences and locating the zip file then turning it on and you will see a new icon in the 3D viewport which looks like a negative S in a red circle.

Then just simple follow the instructions below.

INTERFACE

  1. The button as displayed on the menu. Press for the popdown
  2. The list of all your existing N panels
  3. The list, name and order of your desired new N panel tabs. NOTE: if you use the same short name twice in this list, it will place both panes (from the left) into the same N panel. Use arrows to order which comes first.
  4.  Refreshes the list
  5. Sets and saves your changes
  6. Move an N panel tab up or down
  7. A URL to this documentation

NOTE: To reset SIMPLE TABS, just go into preferences and toggle the addon, OFF and then back ON.

ISSUES

Hard Ops and Boxcutter not able to be displayed in the order tree

This is because they have their own N-Panel positioning code and SIMPLE TABS cannot write over it. Also true with Machin3’s tools.

Other addons don’t display correctly

Please use the “excusions” comma-delimited list to remove an addon from being handled by SIMPLE TABS

Sometimes in a combo panel, tabs get lost

In this case, it’s a good idea to NOT combine the addons you’re trying to combine in one panel.

Sometimes the order doesn’t “take”

You can go into SIMPLE TABS and press the check button to reorder your N panel

Sometimes, when I start Blender, SIMPLE TABS doesn’t load the correct order.

As mentioned before, you can press the check button. This tends to happens when re-opening Blender from a crash.
