Our center participates in Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year. The statewide Adopt-A-Highway program was established in 1988 and is a joint effort between community volunteers and NC Department of Transportation to keep our roads clean. JSCNC adopted a stretch of Highway 54 in Cary between Morrisville Parkway and Airport Boulevard. This stretch is named in honor of Mr. Lalit Banker.
We will continue this tradition at the upcoming Spring cleanup on 13th May. This is a fun activity for children and adults, and shows our commitment to our community.
9:00am on Saturday May 13th.

Mahavir Jayanti Celebration
Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated at the HSNC Cultural Hall on Sunday April 30th. With a record turnout of about 450 people, and an accomplished participation in puja and the program, the event was regarded as a success. The army of volunteers, the many sponsors, and the calibre of children, youth and adult performances underscored their hard work and dedication put behind this event.
You can view the pictures from the event by visiting the link below. Thank you Harshadbhai for capturing these moments.

YJA Pathshala is an online self-paced course for learning more about Jainism. Intended for youth ages 16-29 who cannot regularly access a traditional pathshala, but open to anyone interested, these materials provide a basic foundational understanding of Jain principles and practice. Extensive prior knowledge of Jainism is not required.
Why Pathshala? Understanding of the meaning behind prayers, rituals and practice will make visits to temple more fulfilling and Jain practice more relevant to your day to day choices and actions. We hope that participants can take what they learn through the Pathshala and apply it to consider their own actions through the lenses of Jain principles such as non-violence, compassion and honesty.

Weekly Mahavir Puja
Every Saturday, a Mahavir Puja is performed at the Hindu Temple. Volunteers sign up to perform this Puja, and are assigned specific Saturdays.
The Puja is very simple and takes less than one hour. It is a great way to teach and prepare children with this important ritual, so that they find confidence in performing it during daily routine, special occasions or even pilgrimages in India. Children will learn how to perform the kesar Puja and all aspects of Asht prakari Puja.
Mrs. Rekha Banker, who coordinates weekly Puja, will be happy to demonstrate in person, and has several books with illustrations to help. If you are interested, please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (919) 676-4548.
