This initial itinerary is a sample itinerary and does not reflect any academic programs. ARAMFO offers its travel courses to all fields of study. Therefore, our initial itineraries serve as a reference for the types of activities and locations available in the region. All customizations for academic programs are made on a case by case basis.

Day 1

Arrival and Transfer to hotel

Welcome dinner

Day 2

City tour of the old town and Mariscal Quito.

Free afternoon to discover the city

Day 3

Otavalo trip:

Midpoint of the world/ Mitad del mundo

Continue to Cayambe (learn about the famous bizcochos/ local biscuits)

Peguche waterfalls

Famous artesian indigenous market Otavalo (handicrafts, only Saturday)


Visit the Cuicocha Lagoon

Lago San Pablo.

Day 4

Visit the Community Magdalena Bajo and Chontal (Ibarra)

Get to know retailers doing handcraft, agriculture, etc.

Day 5

Saquisili and Pujji.
Experience the famous local market of Saquisili, and see the first missionary church in Pujji.

Ecuadorian countryside

Day 6

Lagoon of Quilotoa.
Hiking tour Quilotoa

Visiting the surrounding villages for real culture and rural life of indigenous Andean people.
Possibility to visit an indigenous home and interact with local people.
Arrival to Banos at night.

Day 7

Half day rafting tour in the morning
Afternoon canyoning experience.

Optional: ziplining, biking tour to the famous waterfalls, bungee jumping, climbing, hiking tours

Day 8

Train tour to “the devil’s nose”.
Early continue to Riobamba along the “Avenue of Volcanoes”.

Train ride from Alausi, stop at the Incan Ingapirca ruins.
Arrival to Cuenca at night.

Day 9

Cuenca City tour, tour the city

Panama Hat factory and market.

Day 10

Cajas National Park
Afternoon transfer to Quito

Day 100

Transfer to the airport and return flight.
