Mudflap Buying Guide For JB Products LLC
We want to make your purchase as streamlined as possible, so we wrote up this buying guide to make purchasing your mudflaps simple and easy!
PRE: Understand the Terminology
Our mudflaps are broken into three parts: Uppers, Lowers, and Weight Plates. Refer to our detailed term guide for a photo.
UPPER: Made from Stainless steel. The part of the mudflap that bolts to your truck. Hence the “Upper” most part of the mudflap assembly.
LOWER: Made from rubber, plastic, or acrylic. The physical “mudflap” part of the mudflap assembly. The “lower” bolts on to the “upper” using 7-8 stainless screws depending on size. The lower is what the weight plate bolts on to.
WEIGHT PLATE: Made from Stainless Steel. Bolts onto the “lower” and comes in custom or standard designs. The weight plate comes in multiple designs shown on the website. Bolts onto the lower and is the final part of the mudflap assembly.
Step 1: Select Your Product
JBP offers multiple sizes and styles of kickback mudflaps. Before you make any further steps, go to ANY of our kickback mudflap product pages and look at the SIZING GUIDE to ensure you select the correct size for your application.
Step 2A: Custom Or Standard?
Are you looking for a simple standard designed kickback, or are you looking for a custom design? This is the next step after you select your product in step 1. We offer custom designs available to purchase online, this style of custom mudflap is text/logo/design custom cut into the base plate of the mudflap. If you are looking for no design/standard base plate, there will be a selection there as well. Simply choose what standard base plate design you would like and move to step 3.
Custom cut mudflap buyers will need to make their base plate selection in the ORDER COMMENTS, and any logos or files needed from you to cut into the base plate will need to be EMAILED to us immediately following your purchase. Custom cut base plates still use the same base plate as the standard ones shown on the website, but with your custom text or design in them. With your name and order number in the subject line, Please email us your files and any other information we need. If you just want text in your base plate, that can go in the ORDER COMMENTS OR EMAIL. Follow our custom base plate guide on our product pages, and be as descriptive as you can with what you want.
Step 2B: If you want something other than just a logo/text cut into your base plate, or have any other custom design requests, please send us an EMAIL. We are capable of anything you want such as additional backer plates, extruded designs, ect.. Please let us know in an email. These orders need to be invoiced and cannot be purchased directly on the site.
Step 3: Lower Material
Along with step 2 and choosing your base plate, it will also ask you to choose your lower material, please select your base plate material and follow any warnings and guidelines on our product page.
Step 4: Color
Next you will choose your color option. We offer RAW, as in bare stainless steel, meant for DIY, Powdercoat, and Polished. If you would like RAW, select raw. If you want a Powdercoat or Polished finish you must leave that in the ORDER COMMENTS. We can do mixes of polish and powder, or multiple powder colors, but you need to let us know. For example, if you want your base plates polished and the upper portion powdercoated black, please let us know that. We use Prismatic Powders for our powdercoat, please make your selection for powder on their website and let us know the NAME AND PART NUMBER of your selected colors in the ORDER COMMENTS. We do not guarantee color match in powdercoats, please refer to our color match disclaimer and any other guides on our product listing.
Step 5: Mounting Hardware
All of our mudflaps come included with stainless steel self tappers to be used with a torx drive bit. This is the standard hardware used to mount. Our mudflaps are universal, so no holes are drilled. We have installation advice on our product listings. If you want to upgrade your mounting hardware, we sell a ‘Rivet Nut” kit that includes the rivet nut and button screws to mount. You will need to provide your own rivet nut tool and drill bit for the hole. If you don’t know what rivet nuts are, don’t buy the kit. You need a special tool to install rivet nuts. All of our rivet nuts are 10/24.
