Addressing concerns between SAFA/DOCL
Los Santos (Jack Callow Flight Center) -- I had hoped to keep this private issue between departments just that, a private issue. However, some of the untrue facts that are being circulated have forced me to issue a response, despite not having been approached for a statement by any of the media reporting on the matter. At no time did DoCL cease business licensing for airlines or air service businesses. DoCL had formerly made the decision to suspend leasing of airport property for said businesses but has since reversed the decision and will be working with SAFA to see how best these spaces can be utilized moving forward and how best to support commercial aviation. I hope to have more news on this front in the near future.
As for business licensing, SAFA has neither the want nor the intention to strip even a subset of business licensing from the DoCL. How this situation was handled however has indeed left some businesses concerned with the lack of oversight afforded to DoCL as well as the lack of a standardized business code for businesses to be held to.
Regardless, the situation has been resolved privately with DoCL working hard to make these spaces available as their workload allows.
Sincerely
Vladimir Petchenko
Chief Pilot
