What are safety rules 

  1. Discuss Stop, drop, and roll.The teacher will ask students to name places they have seen a fire.
  2. Discuss how fire can benefit people by providing heat and energy.
  3. Point out that fire can be wonderful when used carefully.
  4. Discuss the dangers of fire.
  5. Ask: Have you seen TV news stories about a house or forest fire? How do you think it started?
  6. Talk about how fires not handled carefully, it can easily get out of control.
  7. The teacher will ask the following questions: Who lives in the forest? What do you think will happen to those animals? What can we do to prevent fire in the forest?
  8. Have the children watch “Sparky”.
  9. Discuss safety rules in the kitchen and other fire prevention rules.
  10. Ask: What are safety rules? Name the some of the safety rules? What can happen when we do not follow safety rules?

  1. The teacher will discuss what to do in the event of a fire. (GET OUT and STAY OUT)
  2. If no adult is available, child is to dial 9-1-1.
  3. Have the children practice dialing 9-1-1.
  4. Discuss what to do if your clothings catches fire.
  5. Demonstrate how a burning candle’s flame goes out by placing an inverted glass over it.
  6. Teach techniques top, drop, roll.
  7. Have the children act out fire the terms Stop, Drop, Roll.
