Humanities School Supplies

Due:  Wednesday, 8/20

• 1 box of colored pencils and/or markers (Periods 1 & 2 only)
• Tissues / Kleenex!  (Periods 1 & 2 only)
• Pens & Pencils
• Small 3-ring Binder -OR- Folder -OR- a section in a bigger binder.
• Loose-leaf Paper
• Headphones / Ear Buds (should be cheap…should plug in...they disappear)
• Annotation Tabs (3-4 packs of 5 colors) (see pics below)

• Copy of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

We will begin reading and annotating The Outsiders as a class in the last week of August.  Every student is required to annotate the novel.  Students have two options:  

1. Buy your own book - due Monday 8/25 - This provides the most authentic experience because students get to write directly on the pages of the book, just as they will be doing in high school.  It is required that students get a copy with the correct page numbers: the first words on page 160 are “Soda grinned”.  We recommend this specific edition ⬅ due to the size of the margins (on sale right now!).
2. Borrow a book - For this option, students will check out a book from us.  They will still use the annotation tabs to mark specific places in the book, but will do their writing on provided note sheets.  This option works just as well, but will require an extra half-step each time something is marked.
