THIS SHEET IS OLD AND NOT UPDATED.
You still want accuracy, pierce, cdef, hp, def as stats… but there are better soulshield combinations now and some include pve sets (such as BT or VT shields)

Extra Thoughts: This is your super tanky “try to kill me, I dare you” build. I think this build is over the top tanky (and could get even more so if you sacrificed pierce infusions for HP/defense/blk/etc infusions). That being said --- you might have a hard time killing people with this build, especially other people using this build. It has no base crit chance and relies fully on your base damage with pierce (which should still be good). This build seems, at least in theory, super amazing for destroyers, FMs, and summoners that want to focus on stalling as LONG as possible. ***If you are under 120% accuracy (because you are missing the legendary ring), you should use Elder 3 and Challenger 4 or switch some infusions to accuracy to supplement.
Note on Elder 7 vs Challenger 7 and Challenger 5 vs Elder 5: Many people tell me that they decide to go for Challenger 3,6,7 + Elder 1,2,4,5,8. That set has about 8k more hp than my proposed set, but about 500 less block. I think block is an important stat for the neutral game in 6v6 --- and especially when fighting FMs for example (where their skills aren’t defense piercing and will be coming from the front where block is effective). I made the choice for Elder 7 because I feel that the guaranteed 541 block is more useful than 8k HP -- but if you think otherwise go for Challenger 7 + Elder 5.

Extra thoughts: This is my personal favorite build that acts as a hybrid of offense and defense. It has a lot of free defensive stats to give you very good survivability, but also has extra crit to help give you that extra punch to get through enemy’s massive HP. I like this build because it’s also cheaper to get (doesn’t use piece 8 of elder, instead using challenger 8). This build also has a lot of accuracy, so even those with higher than normal evasion/block shouldn’t be a problem. I think this build is great for assassins that like to go 1v1 people as well as general small scale brawlers. The Galaxy weapon really completes the stats of this build well -- providing a nice boost in Cdef and survivability.
I don’t follow this set exactly. My 5 piece has Acc instead of Crit, and my 6 piece has Blk instead of Crit as substats. Also my piece 8 has pierce infusion. The full set I use is below:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/150002054322978816/245333639439712256/Zy_Soulshields.png. My sin with this set has 127.5% Acc, 56% Crit, 42.5% Pierce, and still boasts 43% Def, 145kHP, 2.56k Crit def, and 40% blk.

Extra thoughts: This build most resembles a Tower of Infinity build and the BIS pvp build before Elder shields came into play. This is your ‘glass cannon’ build. As you can see, it severely lacks the HP and overall defensive stats that the other builds have (save for Cdef). However, this build has the highest pierce, good Crit, and 27% CCdmg to give you that extra killing power. Do not look to fight in large team fights as you will get blown up or chipped away at by AoE, but I think this build is perfectly fine for some 1v1 and 2v2 scenarios and will give you the edge if you can outplay your opponents. If you are confident in your PvP skills and understand when to ‘fight or flight’, then this may be the build for you. ***Please make sure you have at least 125% accuracy or you will miss tech chases often due to RNG block -- make changes as necessary to achieve that. Legendary Ring may be required.
I see quite a few people with this build (or build similar) and they feel VERY squishy compared to those with the 5 piece Elder set bonus. However, the people with this build hit like a truck when they’ve CC’d me. Again --- heavily heavily recommended to not use this build without a Galaxy Stage 3 weapon.
Working Sets prior to Endgame:
Full Naksun with Crit Defense Infusions
Why?: This is a very easily attainable set that provides stats in a similar manner to challenger (they have the same breakdown, but Naksun is overall worse). This is what I would call the bare minimum to go into pvp with. If you do not have at least this, you are probably more of a liability to your team than an asset.
Full Sparring with Crit Defense Infusions
Why?: This set is also very easily attainable (pieces 1-4 can be found from tower of infinity floors 1-20, and pieces 1-8 are from floors 21-30) and provides more defensive stats than Naksun, but also provides some pierce and CCdmg to give you a bit of extra killing power. This set also has fixed stats, so you won’t need to hunt around for a max soulshield --- it already comes with it’s max stats guaranteed. Fortunately, farming sparring is very efficient as you’ll use some of those pieces for climbing higher in tower of infinity too. If you can’t get all 8 pieces for whatever reason, replace what you are missing with Naksun.
Full Challenger or Mix of Sparring + Challenger:
Why?: This set is for those that can actively do tower, or may have done tower farming a lot in the past and have some pieces lying around. Combining them together will get you close to the CCdmg set and was a former best in slot set prior to the patch. The set bonuses are very good, and Challenger has quite nice stats. Classes that aren’t good at Tower or people that have high ping may struggle a lot with getting the challenger pieces, especially pieces 5-8 (as those require floor 41+ in the tower of infinity). However, this is a good set and is worth having (you’ll use these pieces for tower of infinity as well, albeit with different infusions most likely). Infuse a mix of crit def and pierce into this set.
Mix of Challenger and Hell soulshields:
Why?: This is a more defensive option than sparring, or can substitute for sparring in case you can’t farm sparring during a season because your starting floor is too high. The Hell Soulshields from the vendor are identical to the Elder soulshields, but have lower stats and infusion caps (and obviously a different set effect). A 3 piece or 5 piece set of hell along with challenger can be very good until you can get the Elder set to replace Hell.
Full Elder:
Why?: Full Elder is not a set I ever plan to use simply because I value the stats + set effect of Challenger better. However, it is not a bad set in the slightest. Full elder gives 3 second reduced cooldown on your main escape (normally Tab), and has hugely defensive stats. You will be very tanky with this set. Model the infusions based on the Defensive set above. This set costs 230 Galaxy Fragments (57.5k Battle Points) to attain.
Elder 1-5 + Challenger/Sparring 6-8:
Why?: This is the set I went for upon release of Beluga Lagoon. The reason being is that Elder 1-5 is VERY CHEAP to get and I had it farmed within a day of release. Pieces 1-5 require 80 Galaxy Fragments (equivalent of 20k Battle Points). Considering the fact that Elder piece 8 requires 60 Galaxy Fragments by itself (15k Battle Points), getting pieces 1-5 for only 5k more battle points is a steal. Challenger/Sparring 6-8 are just to round out the set and use for the set bonuses. There is much overlap between this set and the Defensive and Offensive sets, so the pieces don’t go to waste (generally). After attaining this set, I farmed up my Galaxy 3 weapon and then farmed up the remaining pieces of the offensive set. Many people I know did the same and it has worked out for them. You get the Elder Set bonus, the Challenger/Sparring set bonus, and you have many pieces in common with your endgame sets.
The stats you want to have in your build no matter what:
120+% accuracy (Thank you to /u/Shiro_chan for pointing out how important accuracy is to counter block chance… the higher the better)
2k+ Crit Def
2.5k+ pierce
As much def/hp/blk/crit you can get otherwise
