DIRECT FROM TRISTEN (ON HOW TO) CALL:
“Call some of these Saskatchewan Party public officials and ask them why they unanimously voted down a suicide prevention piece of legislation; ask them why the Canadian geese on the lawn in the park by the legislative assembly currently have more legal protection than a young indigenous man in ceremony trying to make the country care about the horrific numbers of his people dying all over the province from suicide and hopelessness, his people and yours too; ask them why the Premier has not even acknowledged the presence of a peaceful and profoundly moving demonstration here despite the fact that we are on his front yard of his locus of power; ask these officials why officials from the park authorities along with officers of the law have been coming to intimidate us protestors into leaving when we are here peacefully, quietly, prayerfully, and just simply to try bring hope action and change to save some innocent lives; ask them why it takes a northern indigenous youth who is 24 years old and his friend to walk 635 km to try and bring this to their attention when they have legally binding responsibilities to provide mental health services to the province of Saskatchewan and access to all the statistics and publicly known data they need to be pushed to act quickly; ask them why a local Regina young boy in mental health crisis is turned away forcibly by security in our provincial capital; ask them why the Saskatchewan Party is the only sitting government in Canadian history of any province to ever vote down a suicide prevention piece of legislation; ask them why for every 30 girls that commit suicide in the province of Saskatchewan which has the highest rates in Canada only 1 of those girls is non-indigenous - and how that criminal lack of action and supports province wide are not considered a form of covert genocide; ask them when the criminal negligence and profound lethal indifference of the Saskatchewan Party who allows indigenous citizens to live in deplorably international human rights violating conditions and when this will end?”

Greetings,
I am writing to you as a very concerned citizen of your riding. As you are well aware, suicide rates in our province has reached epidemic status. I am someone who has been touched gravely by suicide. I also have friends and relatives in the Northern section of our province, where suicide has become the leading cause of death.
I was shocked to see that you and your government consciously chose to deny Bill #618 one that you helped write and was in itself a bandage solution to our epidemic. Reading Pillars of Life made me feel exhausted.... as someone who has been so deeply impacted by suicide, it felt like a slap in the face to read those words which were so superficial and devoid of accountability. Jack Hicks, the leading expert in suicide prevention plans in Canada along with other highly educated professionals deemed the plan so vague it’s essentially meaningless. How can you ignore that on top of the people we lose every day?
In our province, suicide has taken far more lives than Covid-19, partially because of our pandemic prevention strategies. Covid-19 showed Saskatchewan how quickly and efficiently our province can act in order to protect our lives. As a united province we demand that you treat our suicide epidemic with as much care as you did the pandemic. I recognize you had planned to not resume house until the end of October, and that is not soon enough. How many will you allow to die before you meet again? I demand an emergency meeting. Use Zoom if you have to. There are so many ways around this and it sickens me that you aren’t advocating for them. I expect more than cowardice from any government.
I have been following Tristen Droucher’s journey closely and I am extremely thankful that this young man is advocating for our province the way he is. We all have much to learn from him. I hope that you have even an ounce of the bravery and integrity that he does, especially with so many lives in your hands.
On November second, Saskatchewan will have a provincial election. Your choice to allow so many youth to die in your care has shown me that you are truly incompetent to lead us; I truly hope you act now to change my mind and many who are sharing these sentiments.
