Diamond Crest Girl Scout Day Camp Admissions Policy

The highest priority is to take all on-time applications,

but we recognize that it may not be possible to do this.

CAMPERS (Entering grades 1-6):

On-time applications will be accepted based on the following criteria:

1. Unit availability at the grade level, with higher priority in staffing units given to the upper grade levels

Admissions decisions regarding siblings are made independently from each other.

AITS (Aides in Training, entering grade 7):

The AITS spend their time at camp preparing for their future roles as program Aides the following year (entering 8th grade). It is necessary that girls registering as AITS are able to attend camp the entire two weeks of the program. The Day Camp Team is continually striving to provide all of our campers an excellent camp experience. Well-trained Aides are critical to this goal!

Volunteers must complete the required training and adult screening through Girl Scouts of Northern California. New volunteers may be asked to complete a questionnaire.

Full time staff members work a minimum of 5 days. Children of full time staff members—Girl Scout, non-Girl Scout, Camper, Aide, Boy or Preschooler (potty-trained)—may be eligible for a discounted fee and priority registration. A limited number of part time staff positions may be available. Part time positions and discounted fees for children of part time staff will be determined on a case by case basis after registration is complete and a position has been assigned.

PIXIES or BOYS (who are children of staff)

As a courtesy to our adult staff members, we offer an onsite childcare program for the Preschoolers (Pixies) and Boys entering grades 1-7. The parent or guardian of the child must be onsite at camp for their child to attend either of these programs. Pixies and Boys do not ride the bus unless their parent or guardian is also riding the bus.

PIXIES (potty-trained pre-school - kindergarten aged children of staff):

Pixies are potty-trained preschool aged children or are entering kindergarten.

BOYS (entering grades 1-7)

Boys who are children of staff and are entering grades 1-7 will be placed in the Boy’s unit and will participate in camp activities such as games, crafts, singing, cookouts, etc.

There will be a limited number of spaces for Boys entering grades 8-10 to serve as aides to the unit leaders in the Boy’s unit. The number of spaces available will be determined after reviewing the number of registered younger campers and using the following criteria for on-time applicants:

1. Need, based on number of campers in the Boy’s unit

2. Child of full time staff member

3. Years as a camper in the Diamond Crest Girl Scout Day Camp Boy’s unit
