Hello Zine Machine!

I’m Bre, a Black and Polynesian artist based in California, and I’ve been making zines since 2016. After graduating with a B.A. in English, Creative Writing in 2019, I found it hard to get my work published in literary magazines and was frustrated with the process of finding an agency to represent me. It was through that hardship that I decided to return to zines and focus on making the publishing process more accessible for creatives like me.

Since dedicating myself to zines, I’ve been commissioned to create original work for popular artists like Mac DeMarco, hosted zine workshops all over the country, and have been recognized by several institutions for my video tutorials and self-publications.

I created these resources below to help you on your zine journey. While I share tips from my perspective, always remember you can make zines however you see fit. There are no right or wrong ways to go about binding, scanning, distributing, or selling your zines, so please only take what applies and leave what doesn’t.
