My dear Laszlo,

Thank you very much for your kind enquiries. We have had a hard time of it, but I am glad to say that my wife will be all right in the course of a week or so and will bear no permanent mark of the accident.[1] I hope to be at work in a day or two.

[1] On the night of 14 July 1915, Lavery and his wife, Hazel, were travelling home in a taxi cab when it skidded and crashed into a lamp-post in Park Lane; the driver of the cab was killed. Lavery escaped with relatively minor injuries, but Hazel was taken to hospital with severe concussion (reported in The Tatler, 21 July 1915, p. 81).
