CITY OF SOUTHPORT

Road Closures Due to Extreme Flooding

Southport, NC – City of Southport officials have closed all inbound roads to thru and non essential traffic due to flooding and road collapse.

Major local incidents are:

NC 211 at Duke Progress Canal between Walmart and Dosher Cutoff due to road  collapse and water main break. The road is closed in both directions until further notice. E. Moore Street near Turtlewood subdivision and Harbor Oaks due to road collapse. The  road is closed in both directions until further notice.

500 block of E. Moore Street due to a partial collapse. The road is passable but use  extreme caution.

NC 211 at Executive Park Blvd (near St. James) has collapsed. The road is closed in both  directions until further notice.

Other incidents in Southport are:

W. 11th at Lord and Caswell

Leonard St at Jabbertown Rd

E. 11th at Brunswick Apartments

Robert Ruark at Southport Way

Fodale Ave at N. Howe, entrance to Dosher Memorial Hospital

W. 12th from Howe to Caswell

Cades Cove at 14th Street

City of Southport Public Works and First Responder teams are on scene at each of the closures.
