Now Accepting Applications for Department of Geosciences Scholarships:  Applications are now being accepted for the 2015-2016 Department of Geosciences scholarships.  The applications are posted on our website, and attached to this email. You may also pick up a hard copy from the department office.

Please note that there are TWO application processes for which you must submit separate application packets. One is for the Norman & Barbara Tanner Scholarship in Geosciences. The other is in consideration for one of the following; Richard & Belva Moyle, Thomas Neff Memorial, Suzi Nicholson Memorial, and Questar Scholarships.

Each application must be accompanied with a printed copy of your CatTracks.  If you need help getting a printed copy of your CatTracks, the department administrative assistant, Marianne Bischoff, can help you with that.  Email, call (801-626-7139) or stop by. Applications for departmental scholarships will be accepted until 4:00pm, February 23, 2015.

Summer of Applied Geophysical Experience (SAGE) 2015: SAGE is a 3-4 week research and education program in exploration geophysics for graduate and undergraduate students, and working professionals, based in Santa Fe, NM. Stipend and travel support will be automatic for all U.S. undergrad studentsaccepted, and the $600 fee will be waived. Application deadline March 27, 2015, 5:00pm.  Please see the attached flyer for full information.

DNR Seasonal Jobs: Do you want a natural resources job that lasts for just a few months? The Utah Departmental of Natural Resources is accepting applications for seasonal job openings.  To learn more and to apply please visit their website.

Grants for Undergraduate Research ​

The Rocky Mountain Section of GSA is currently accepting proposals for undergraduate research grants. Funding requests can be for up to $750 and are due 1 March 2015.​  ​

National Scholarships Provided by AIPG: The attached flyer has details about how to apply for a $1000 scholarship for undergraduate geoscience students, offered by the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG). The deadline for applications is Feb. 15.

Intermountain ​Sustainability Summit​: The ISS will take place at the WSU Shepherd Union Building on March 5-6th, 2015.  The Keynote Speaker is Dr. David Orr, distinguished professor of environmental studies at Oberlin College, acclaimed environmentalist, author, and educator. For full information, please see the attached flyers.
