Troubleshooting Issues with Logging In - Multiple Accounts:
SPPS Apps is a version of the Google Drive set of apps and online tools. It is provided to the Saint Paul Public Schools by Google at no cost. The service gives SPPS staff and students a secure, add-free internet location for creating, saving, and sharing files.
The SPPS Apps tools include:
Google Drive (manages all your Google files in one location)
Google Docs (word processing)
Google Spreadsheets (iPad app: Sheets)
Google Presentations (IPad app: Slides)
Google Sites (web pages)
Gmail (email)
Saint Paul staff and students are provided with a user ID that is also a gmail address.
For staff: firstname.lastname@stpaul.k12.mn.us
For students: firstinitial.lastname001@stpaul.k12.mn.us
Staff are encouraged to set their SPPS Apps email account to forward any mail to their Outlook email account, firstname.lastname@spps.org. See below for directions on how to do this.

Written Directions For Logging In:
1. Type start.stpaul.k12.mn.us (direct link) into your address bar
2. Bookmark the page - Name it “Google Drive” or “SPPS Apps”
3. If you’ve never logged in click on the blue button that says “Sign in through Saint Paul Public Schools”.
*Note: If you are already signed in, but with a different/personal account see the “troubleshooting” section on page 3.
4. Enter your Active Directory
Username and Password.
If you need help resetting your
password, call 651-603-HELP.
5. Click on Mail, Docs/Drive or Calendar and you’re in!
Written Directions For Logging In:
1. Download/open Google Drive on the iPad
2. Select “Sign In” located on the bottom left corner of the screen
3. Enter the Google Apps email address (first.last@stpaul.k12.mn.us) and select “next”
4. Authenticate with Active Directory username & password (e###### or s######)
5. Download Google Docs, Sheets or Slides to open files
from Google Drive
Written Directions For Forwarding Mail:
1. Log into Google Drive/SPPS Apps.
2. Go to Mail (NOT Documents).
3. In the upper right hand corner click on your the gear by your user name. first.last@stpaul.k12.mn.us
4. Choose Settings in the drop down window.
5. Your screen should look like this, then click on the “forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
6. Now click the button that reads “Add a forwarding address” and add your regular SPPS email address (first.last@spps.org).
7. Then proceed with sending the confirmation.
8. Go to your Outlook email and look for an email from the “St Paul Public Schools Team.” There will be a link in that email, click it.
9. If that link does not take you back to you mail settings, go there (see steps 2 - 5).
*NOTE: You may have to hit the refresh button.
10. Make sure that your mail is set to “Forward a copy of incoming mail to...” as seen below.
11. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “SAVE.”
12. Congratulations, you are finished.
Written Directions For Accessing Google Docs on a Mobile Phone:
To access Google Docs on a mobile phone, first sign in to your @stpaul.k12.mn.us Google Account on the phone’s internet browser.
After signing in to your SPPS Google Account, any links opened from the email app will authenticate to your SPPS Google Account. If complications continue, confirm that you are not incorrectly signed in to a personal Google Account.

Written Directions For Troubleshooting Log In Issues:
If you are already logged in to Google Drive with personal account, here are your options:
1. Log into SPPS account using a different web browser (i.e. Firefox, Chrome)
2. Log out of your personal account and close that browser completely. Then
you can sign in to your SPPS account by following the directions on page 1 (Log In
to Google Drive/SPPS Apps).
3. Add an account and switch back and forth between them.
For Google Chrome Users:
1. Sign in using an incognito window.
File > New Incognito Window
2. Advanced User Option: If you have a Chrome Account that you are signed in, add a new user under settings.
*Note: This is different from Google Drive or SPPS Apps. You are signing in to the actual
Chrome web browser.
